This case has led to the setting up of numerous FIRs and arrests of some suspects by the police in Nashik, as the members of an Investigation Team working in Nashik have taken note thereof. Police officials said at least nine FIRs were filed, some after hearing reports from a woman engineer and potentially others, citing a known history of workplace harassment.

Workers and superiors have been accused of inappropriate behaviour, including verbal abuse, physical and religious intimidation, abuse and various inappropriate behaviours with colleagues and superiors. She said that she had been called out for degrading remarks against her religious faith in the courseware.

A large number of others in the group also made derogatory remarks about Hindu deities, adding to emotional trauma and the sense of hostility in the workplace, she said, which added another layer of insult. The most egregious allegations are of physical harassment. But the complainant alleged a team leader had inappropriately touched her during training on the premise that he was doing it.

One person, she said, had also acted sexually inappropriately in the office pantry, celebrating when someone else had been there — another accuser. The complaint details allegations of coercion and threats linked to religious practice. She was harassed for not wearing a burqa and threatened with violence if she failed to. “Those claims as well have taken it to a whole new level, and it’s become almost more of a lit in this case, and it’s pointing to potential wrongdoing both in the workplace and on the human person level,” she said.

The Nashik police have established a Special Investigation Team to properly investigate the problem in the wake of these complaints. Eight people, including a woman manager, have been arrested in the case. The officials wrote in part that investigations are ongoing and more evidence is being assembled on potential misconduct levels.

Meanwhile, police were also conducting a search for another accused named Nida Khan, who has since been absconding. Three police teams have been deployed to keep an eye on her whereabouts - one of them being reported to have been dispatched to Mumbra, the inner city of Thane.

Meanwhile, the accused also contacted the sessions court seeking anticipatory bail and is scheduled for an appearance soon. Officials said the alleged incidents took place from June 2025 to March 2026. Investigators are looking at digital records, workplace communications and testimony from other employees to lend credibility to the allegations.

The case has sparked intense debate about workplace safety, accountability, and the importance of more robust processes for resolving harassment complaints. Experts emphasise strict adherence to laws and ensure compliance with them, including the fact that organisations need to implement the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act and make inclusive, safe workplaces.

While the investigation is ongoing, officials have advised the public not to speculate and allow for a good amount of time to allow due process to occur as it must take its course, the statement says. The outcome can not only put the fate of those directly involved in the investigation at risk but also determine the fate of workplace operations across the general business community.
