RTC Bus-Lorry Collision on NH-71 Leaves 16 Injured in Tirupati District

Tirupati: At least 16 people were severely injured when a RTC bus collided with a lorry on National Highway-71 near Chembadipalem village in Pellakuru mandal of Tirupati district on Friday. The accident led to panic among passengers and other motorists travelling on the busy highway, and emergency services and local police rushed to the spot at a time when the incident happened, said police.

The RTC bus was travelling along NH-71 when it collided with the lorry near Chembadipalem, the early reports said. The impact resulted in several passengers seriously injured. Local residents and drivers on the road, too, were said to have taken part in the first rescue efforts before police arrived at the scene.

There were as many as 16 people injured in the collision. The injured were transferred to the Naidupet Government Hospital for medical examination and treatment. Details of the injured and their individual injuries were not available.

Pellakuru Circle Inspector (CI) Sangameshwara Rao and Sub-Inspector (SI) Adhi Lakshmi arrived at the spot after information about the collision.
