Train Seat Fight in Uttar Pradesh Raises Safety Concerns for Passengers

A shocking incident on the passenger train is going viral online. Two boys had a violent fight over a seat with the one boy with a white T‑shirt punching the other. Then the attack became a whole lot worse and the two men fought. The video has raised concerns among people who are following it (more likely to be people that travel by train from a city like Bombay) about train safety in India.

The fight erupted when two passengers argued over the seating arrangements. Witnesses report the man in the white T‑shirt pulled out a belt and started hitting the other youth. The other passenger took off to engage the boy and chaos erupted inside the crowded train.

Other passengers stood by in shock and video recorded by various stations. The video was later posted online with mentions such as “Dhurandhar style fight in train”. The clip rapidly became news and raised many questions over passenger coach security.

As social media exploded with memes, jokes and heated conversations with each other, but people with little to no opinion on that video also said that many would think the videos show violent problems that are inroads into train travel, they said. All the time law-abiding passengers will feel unsafe in an argument involving a few people, they would say.

Most commented on the lack of RPF in the train and whether disputes may get heated as well in those few passengers are not seen by RPF agents but instead are not there and will escalate quickly in the train if the train can not be stopped and the railway workers don’t act quickly to help a train station to act as part of what is a railway system in crisis of safety.

The railway network of India is one of the largest in the world traveling millions of passengers every day but overcrowding, rows over seats and lack of security at home also leads to violent fights between travellers. Similar incidents happened in Bareilly and Hathras, with passengers injured.

The viral video underlines the pressing need for more oversight and tighter enforcement, especially on trains. More RPF personnel, especially in such places in train stations could help prevent them so quickly, the authorities say.

The fight in the Uttar Pradesh train only lasted a few minutes, but I would say that there was a lasting memory for one. It illustrated how an argument over a seat can lead to a huge fight over it and what can be the worst thing to happen for everyone else when it gets heated and the safety of it becomes a very bad impression to people in your vicinity. As they’re building up the railway system in India (if a new one happens, it must be a very good fit). This example in India is an example we should never forget to be safe; trains with this as passengers, not a place where there is fear and a chaos of chaos are a must and must happen.
