Two Nepalese women’s mysterious deaths in yelahanka , Bangllore have led to a police investigation after their bodies were found hanging from a tree in the city’s outskirts.
The incident has raised several questions and investigators have since referred to the case as suspicious until the cause of death is established by forensic examination and post-mortem examinations.
Local residents saw the bodies hanging from a tree and immediately alerted the police, said police. Officers rushed to the site, secured the area, and collected evidence. The bodies were sent for autopsies to determine the cause and time of death.
From initial investigations, both women were Nepalese citizens and had been living and working in Bengaluru. Police are still trying to find out their identities, verify their employment and locate their families in Nepal. They aren’t even sure if the women had shared a room or had any personal or professional relationships, officials said.
Investigators are examining CCTV images from nearby areas, talking to residents, employers and friends, and looking at mobile phone records for the women’s movements in the days before their deaths. They’re also looking for any personal, financial and workplace issues in recent days, they said.
Authorities have not ruled out any angle, such as suicide or foul play, they said. The specifics of the case will only be clear after forensic results and autopsy reports are received, senior police officers said. The evidence collected at the scene, including personal belongings and electronic devices, is now being examined by detectives.
The Nepalese Embassy has been informed of the incident and an effort is being made to coordinate with victims' families. Police are also working with immigration and local authorities to gather official documentation related to the deceased.
The deaths have piqued the interest of Nepalese people from Bengaluru and many have called for a full and transparent investigation.
International cases involving foreign nationals are said to require close coordination between local police, embassies and forensic teams to ensure that the identification and legal process of the crime is followed properly by the victims and their families. But authorities have asked the public not to conjecture about the cause of death until the investigation is completed.
Police said all possibilities are open and no conclusions should be made at this point.
