A woman was allegedly assaulted inside the family court premises of Maharajganj, Uttar Pradesh, after a maintenance-case hearing on September 24, 2026. The woman, identified as Priya Tripathi, claimed her estranged husband Manish Kumar Mishra and two other men assaulted her after she left the courtroom.
The case gained exposure on the internet when a video of the purported assault was submitted to police and circulated online. Police are reviewing the complaint and camera footage as part of their investigation.

According to Tripathi's complaint, the incident took place at around 2 pm on September 24 after proceedings in her maintenance case.
Her father, Laxmikant, was scheduled to give testimony in the case. Tripathi said she, her father and sister Priyanka reached a ground-floor hall of the court building after leaving the courtroom.
She said Manish Kumar Mishra, Prince Mishra and Satish Mishra approached her from behind and began assaulting her. Tripathi said that she was pushed to the ground and that an attempt was made to strangle her.

Father and sister also allegedly attacked
Tripathi also claimed that her father and sister were also attacked when they attempted to intervene.
The confrontation ended as police officers at the court premises arrived at the moment, she said. She also alleged threats were made against her if she continued pursuing the legal actions against her husband.
The allegations have not yet been made in court and the police investigation is expected to determine what happened before, during and after the part captured on video.
Video Submitted as Evidence
Tripathi submitted a video clip to Kotwali police along with her written complaint. The video has attracted attention online because it appears to show a confrontation inside the court premises.
But the available video does not necessarily provide the complete sequence of events or identify everyone involved. Police will review the footage and witness accounts and other evidence.
FIR and Arrest Status
As of September 26, 2026, reports said police action on Tripathi’s complaint was awaited. It was also not clear whether an FIR had been formally registered against the three named men or whether arrests had been made.
So, claims about arrests cannot be presented as confirmed unless police issue an official update.
