Farmers, horticulture experts, exporters and mango lovers came together to celebrate with more than 800 varieties of mangoes from across the state.

The festival also highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s growing presence in the horticulture industry and the government’s efforts to make farmers more marketable and have more value chains in place and to generate more exports.

The Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said agriculture and horticulture are the pillars of Uttar Pradesh’s economy and agricultural activities are still very much important in the state’s economy. He said modern farming techniques and better storage facilities made available, and international marketing for mangoes in the state have helped to improve the demand for mangoes grown in the state.

The festival featured almost 800 mango varieties, including popular favourites such as Dasheri, Langra, Chausa, Amrapali, Mallika and many rare indigenous ones. Mangoes, cultivation methods, and their unique flavor and characteristics were explained to visitors as well.

The festival also featured mango-based products, including juices, pickles, candies, jams, chutneys, desserts, and processed food items. Value-added processing can create new income sources for farmers and small businesses, such as these products.

The officials said Uttar Pradesh mangoes are now being exported to more than 30 countries, reflecting the growing global demand for Indian mangoes. Better quality control, more efficient packaging and a better cold chain infrastructure have also helped growers navigate international markets more efficiently.

The event had 1,501 participants, generating 3,032 entries and was one of the largest editions of the festival. Farmers from all over the state exhibited their best crops and agricultural experts presented knowledge on disease control, sustainable cultivation, and export standards.

The state government believes that the mango value chain from production and processing to marketing and exports will help in improving rural incomes and encourage young entrepreneurs to enter the agri-business sector.

The festival also helped Uttar Pradesh to develop its horticultural and tourism sector as it brought tourists and buyers into the state to sample the variety of Indian mangoes. It also connected farmers to buyers, exporters and food processing companies.

As the mango-producing states grow globally and with government backing, Uttar Pradesh can continue to strengthen its position as one of India’s largest mango producers.

The Mango Festival 2026 emphasized the richness of the fruit as well as the aim of the state to make horticulture an integral part of agriculture and export.
