Three fishermen have gone missing after they went to the Tungabhadra River backwaters to catch fish in Vijayanagara district. The incident took place close to Tambralli village in Hagaribommanahalli taluk, which is worrying family members and residents.

The missing men are identified as 22-year-old Raja, 20-year-old Yamanappa, and 26-year-old Ajjappa. Initial information suggests that they had gone fishing in the Tungabhadra backwaters on Tuesday afternoon.

They did not return home later on in the day, and their families grew worried. While waiting for them to come back and trying to contact them, they were found looking for them, and local people started searching for them.

As the three fishermen could not be located, a complaint was lodged with the police. Hagaribommanahalli police launched a search operation in and around the area where the three men were believed to have been fishing.

Residents have also joined the search efforts. Police personnel are now at the site and monitoring the situation while the fishermen are still missing.

Given the possibility that the men might have been in trouble fishing in the river backwaters, the police have called in a team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to assist with the search operation.

The SDRF team is expected to conduct a detailed search of the waterbody and surrounding areas. Rescue personnel may use boats and other equipment to search underwater and along the banks of the Tungabhadra backwaters.

The disappearance of the three young men has caused anxiety in their families and the people of Tambralli village. Local people hope that the search teams will track them at the earliest.

Police officials from Hagaribommanahalli have been camping at the spot and helping with the search operation. They are also gathering information from family members and other villagers to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the disappearance, the report said.

There is still no official explanation as to what the three fishermen did when they entered the backwaters. Police and rescue teams are in search of them, and more details will come into play as the search continues.

The incident has also brought attention to the risks of fishing in river backwaters, especially when water levels and currents may change unexpectedly. In general, fishermen and residents should be careful to leave the water bodies in the event of a change in water conditions.

A case has been registered at the Tambralli police station in connection with the disappearance. Police are investigating along with the search operation.

Families of Raja, Yamanappa and Ajjappa are waiting for updates from the rescue teams as the operation continues. After that, officials will give further information as soon as there is a breakthrough in the search for the three missing fishermen.
