Ludhiana: There was panic in a prestigious neighborhood of Ludhiana after unidentified attackers opened fire in a pizza shop late at night and people inside fled for safety. The attackers fired three shots in three seconds before fleeing, some cops said.
The attack occurred in Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar where the pizza shop was open when the fast-paced gunfire rocked the store. CCTV cameras inside the outlet captured crucial moments of the incident. The footage is being scoured now by investigators trying to figure out how the attacks happened and who actually did it.
The footage shows the attackers entering the outlet to fire three consecutive shots in rapid succession as workers and customers quickly fled. Panic was felt by the employees in the establishment and people rushed out in an effort to save themselves. The attackers escaped before police arrived.
The CCTV recording will play an important role in the investigation. Police investigators will also check the appearance, movements, and actions of the suspects, and other evidence from the premises, and look at what the attackers did after they left the outlet and if there was any prior reconnaissance of the site.
The case also took another significant turn when a certain Instagram page called "Gopi Lahoria Group" claimed responsibility for firing. The social media post allegedly had threats toward the outlet.
But police are not treating the social media claim as fact at this stage. Investigators are checking whether the Instagram account is genuinely connected to any criminal group or if it was created or operated by someone attempting to falsely claim responsibility and create fear.
The police cyber cell has therefore become an important part of the investigation. Technical information regarding the social media account is being examined to establish who was operating it. Investigators might also look at account activity, digital records, and other technical evidence to verify the legitimacy of the claim and trace the person or persons behind it.
The firing might be the motive of some kind of motive for that, authorities said. The investigation is likely to explore one or more possible motives behind a targeted attack, extortion and extortionists, personal conflicts, or a rivalry between individual parties involved or the potential conflict among criminal groups. At the time of this writing, the motive remains under investigation.
And it is not only gun violence and gang activity in Ludhiana that has been raised due to the incident, but also public safety issues and the need for effective preventive policing in commercial places.

Police will be able to compare the CCTV evidence with the social media claim and other technical and physical evidence before arriving at conclusions.
The investigation is ongoing and the attackers are not yet known. Police are still trying to verify the gang claim, trace the suspects and determine the cause of that late-night firing.
And the incident is a reminder of the dangers of criminal intimidation and firearms in public spaces. As investigators are piecing together the evidence, residents and business owners will be watching closely for developments and hoping that those responsible will be identified and brought before the law.
