It’s Rajkumar OR’s directorial debut with Hayagrriva. The original movie, which was initially released in theatres on February 27, saw commercial success with its contemporary Kannada version of the thriller. A grim detective thriller blending ritualistic murder with futuristic and mythological visuals.

Plot: The movie narrates the life of a young detective named Arjun Hayagrriva (Dhanveerrah). You can’t be seen because there are animal-like masks and symbols on the faces of the victims, which enhances the murder mystery!

The findings will lay bare the unnaturally intertwined webs of ancient tales, contemporary medical experimentation, and criminal scheming. Then the personal, psychological, and emotional issues of the character, while he and his team are on the deadly investigation of a crime.

The movie has Sanjana Anand as an emotionally central character, Ashwini Gowda as the new police commissioner to restore stability in an increasingly deteriorating city and unearth the murderers. The production will also include Sadhu Kokila, Ravishankar, Sharath Lohitashwa, Krishna Hebbale, Ashwin Hassan, Gilli Nata, Shobh Raj, and Sunil Rao.

The script is by Raghukumar OR, and production work by Padma Samruddhi Manjunath for KVC Productions. Its production and delivery are done by Virat Sai Creations.

Hayagrriva received mixed reviews in the online press after reaching audiences through OTT. Starring the performances of Dhanveerrah and Sunil Rao in leading roles, critics were quick to praise the features, highlighting that the screenplay delivered a really gnarly, logic-wrought story.

Some fans mentioned themes ranging from mythology to thriller, which were brought into the film as an aspect of the thematic element: They were introduced to it. Yet for others, for those who revel in the thrill of suspense stories through social media and the internet, the atmospheric visuals and experimental storytelling were simply not one of many.

Some social media influencers also praised the feeling of suspense, atmospherics, and new storytelling strategies: they did not, though and in some ways not so much, but the movie’s darker side of the tale with one of the darker, harsher, more intricate takes on this that just seemed to go beyond the point where it was all too unevenly executed: Others say too much of it just got out of hand.

Those reviews were a little split, though, because this was one of the few new Kannada thrillers that included strong ideas, adventurous character building, and it also received a lot of negative reviews. The film’s mythological undercurrents and crime investigation subtext deliver a kind of cinematic thrill for fans of dark mystery dramas that some commercial thrillers don’t provide.

Dhanveerrah was popular for the 2019 action thriller Bazaar, which depicted the actor as a hardboiled, tough guy on a grisly investigation imbued with dark secrets and psychological thriller elements. And on Prime Video, it has extended beyond Karnataka, reaching audiences who tune into regional mystery thrillers.
