The proud people of northeastern India (Assam) are celebrating a moment of great pride, joy, and celebration in the sport as young athletic prodigy Lenisha Narzary got a gold medal as an Indian in the ninth Heroes Taekwondo International Championship 2026 held in Thailand, which is a new record in her growing and impressive career. She scored in a high enough order and is now awarded the most competitive and proud Indian girls’ national team for that international tournament and she did a job to win it on the global stage so well, she is sitting at the very top of the podium and is proud of it.
Her achievement has been widely praised by her coaches, colleagues, and leaders to be a testimony to dedication, hard work, and constant training. This great gold medal win has also made Dibrugarh a hometown of legends and has added to Assam’s ever-growing list of international sporting successes. Lenisha, originally from Kokrajhar, is the proud daughter of Phungka Basumatary and Jaya Narzary. The family is currently in Dibrugarh where her father is serving in the Indian Railways and has been a great source of encouragement and support to her throughout her athletic journey.
Lenisha’s success will offer a huge inspiration to the next generation in Assam and the northeastern region and will only help with the growing presence of the state’s most talented athletes in top international competitions. So I’m very happy that her gold medal came from hard work and determination that I have always known how to do and will continue to do so.
