Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has made his priorities clear after winning the Ballon d’Or. England captain Kane said he would choose the UEFA Champions League trophy over his individual award because “team success is the biggest reward in football”.

Kane made the remarks at a press conference in Madrid on November 2, 2026 ahead of Bayern Munich’s Champions League game against Atletico Madrid. Although he is top of individual football recognition he is still hungry to win Europe’s biggest club competition with Bayern.

Harry Kane Values Team Success Above Individual Awards

Kane said winning the Ballon d’Or was one of the best moments of his career but that lifting a major trophy with his teammates would be another kind of happiness.

“Team trophies are why we play football. The team aspect of our sport is really, really important,” Kane said. “That’s what drives us.”

He said celebrating a Champions League win with Bayern Munich would be an amazing experience. Asked which one he’d rather win between Ballon d’Or and Champions League Kane was emphatic.

“I would choose the Champions League but I have the opportunity to do both. We’ll see what happens,” he said.

His comments show how much he values collective success even though he has been awarded one of football’s most individual honours.

Champions League Remains a Major Ambition

Kane has had a successful career but winning the Champions League is still one of his biggest ambitions.

The striker came close to European glory with Tottenham Hotspur in 2019. Spurs lost 2–0 to Liverpool in the Champions League final in Madrid.

Kane is hoping for a different memory with Bayern Munich. The club has a strong European pedigree but its last Champions League win was in 2020.

Winning the competition would be a huge achievement for Kane and cement his legacy at the German club.

Bayern Face Atletico Madrid in Important European Clash

Kane was speaking ahead of Bayern Munich’s clash with Atletico Madrid on November 3 at the Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid.

The game is vital for both sides as they look to consolidate their positions in the Champions League league phase.

Kane will be one of Bayern’s main men with the Germans relying on his goalscoring ability and experience in big European games.

Atletico manager Diego Simeone also praised the England striker before the game, saying he is an exceptional player who gives a lot to football.

Kane's Ambition Goes Beyond Personal Recognition

Winning the Ballon d’Or is a major step in Kane’s career but his latest comments show that individual recognition hasn’t changed his desire to win major team trophies.

For Bayern fans his commitment will be inspiring as the club continues its quest for European glory.

Now Kane has a chance to add the Champions League trophy to his collection and make his dream a reality. His message is simple — individual awards are nice but winning together is better still.
