The team is full of youth and experience. There are seasoned players like Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel and Sanju Samson. But the selection is also for the young players like Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Kumar Reddy and record-setting 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Sooryavanshi’s fearless batting in IPL 2026 earned him the Orange Cap and a place in the Indian team, and he is the youngest Indian cricketer to take part in a world event.

The bowling attack is formidable with Bumrah returning to spearhead the pace unit, supported by Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana. India’s spin department is equally strong, with Ravi Bishnoi, Varun Chakravarthy, and Washington Sundar providing a wide variety of wrist spin and off-spin options. That balance has a positive impact on depth in all formats and conditions.

Suryakumar Yadav, who led India to the T20 World Cup gold, has been rested because of the poor performance. And his absence means that younger talent can show their skills and also the selectors will be looking to experiment with some new combinations ahead of future international tournaments.

The Asian Games cricket competition will involve 10 teams including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, hosts Japan as well as qualifiers Nepal, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Oman. Matches will be held in the T20 format with full ICC status and the event will be of international standard. India's team is the favorite to defend their title with the depth and power of their talent in all departments.

This team in India’s Asian Games 2026 is young with a great deal of potential growth for the young and experienced match‑winners. Shreyas Iyer is the most capable behind the scenes, Tilak Varma is the deputy and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is the youngest, the team is promising and full of promise. We will be watching to see if this dynamic team is able to deliver back‑to‑back gold medals on the continental stage.
