Aston Villa Stun Manchester City 2-1.
Aston Villa produced one of Saturday’s best results by defeating Manchester City 2-1 at Villa Park. Nicolas Jackson scored twice as Unai Emery’s side ended City’s perfect start to the Premier League campaign.
Jackson opened the scoring in the sixth minute after Marc Guehi’s defensive error. Villa held their advantage at half time while City failed to find an equaliser.
Manchester City responded after the break when Erling Haaland put home Iliman Ndiaye's cross to make it 1-1. Villa eventually took the lead around the hour mark as Jackson finished a move involving Ibrahim Mbaye.
City pushed for another equaliser but Villa held strong to keep all three points. City's win in the league was short-lived and Villa got to the first place win following a string of good performances.
Tottenham beat Chelsea in the London Derby
Tottenham Hotspur won 2-0 against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in another major Saturday result.
The match was goalless for much of the match until Chelsea goalkeeper Mike Penders turned a corner into his own net in the 77th minute. The hosts were forced to face a more difficult task when Cole Palmer received a second yellow card and was sent off in the 80th minute.
Tottenham took advantage of their numerical superiority, and Mathys Tel produced a fantastic individual effort in the 87th minute to seal the win.
The result was particularly significant for Spurs, who had long failed to win league wins at Stamford Bridge in the past years. The result also gave the visitors the benefit of a boost in the Premier League table.
Arsenal Defeat Everton 2-0
Arsenal made the most of Manchester City’s defeat by winning 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium against Everton.
Ezri Konsa opened the scoring in the seventh minute after a corner caused confusion inside Everton’s penalty area. Arsenal kept their pressure and doubled their lead in the 68th minute when Gabriel headed home a cross from Ben White.
The result moved Arsenal level with Manchester City on 21 points after eight matches and increased the early-season title race.
Fulham Edge Coventry City
Fulham secured a narrow 1-0 victory against Coventry City with Oscar Bobb the winner in the 80th minute.
Bobb created space in the penalty area before curling a fine finish into the far corner. Fulham's late strike earned them their second consecutive league win while Coventry were left disappointed after a close game.
