Former India cricketer S Sreesanth is mourning the death of his father, V Santhakumaran Nair, who died at the age of 89 in Kochi on Friday night, September 11, 2026. Santhakumaran Nair was being treated at Lisie Hospital when he died at 9:44 pm.
The death was reported by Kerala-based news sources, including Kerala Kaumudi and Manorama News which confirmed the timing and location of his death.
Funeral to be held in Kothamangalam
Santhakumaran Nair's remains are expected to be taken to the family’s ancestral home in Mathirappilly, Kothamangalam, on Sunday, September 13. The family is waiting for relatives from abroad to arrive before carrying out the final rites.
According to the reports, the body will be kept at the family home for public homage between 10 am and 2 pm on Sunday. The funeral is scheduled at around 4 pm in Kothamangalam.
Retired LIC Zonal Manager
Santhakumaran Nair was a retired Life Insurance Corporation of India zonal manager and was associated with Mathirappilly in Kothamangalam, Kerala.
Even though he was the father of one of India’s most famous former cricketers, he was very private. His death hurt the family and those close to them.
Survived by wife and four children
Santhakumaran Nair is survived by his wife T.N. Savitri Devi and four children: Dipu Santh, Niveditha, Divya and S Sreesanth. Sreesanth’s sister Divya is married to the playback singer Madhu Balakrishnan.
The family is expected to gather in Kothamangalam for the last ceremonies with relatives and close friends paying their respects during the public homage.

Sreesanth represented India in Test, ODI and T20I cricket in his international career. He was part of India's 2007 T20 World Cup winning team and 2011 ODI World Cup winning team.
