Yashasvi Jaiswal will continue with Rajasthan Royals for IPL 2027 despite recent speculation that the India opener might be traded to Mumbai Indians.
According to RevSportz, Rajasthan Royals are planning for their next season with Jaiswal as the core of their team. A senior RR official said the batter has no desire to leave the team and has not expressed any desire to leave the club, they report.
The update comes as there has been speculation over weeks about a possible trade which would see Jaiswal and Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya involved.
Rajasthan Royals Clear The Air On Jaiswal Trade Rumours
Earlier in recent months, there were reports that Jaiswal may be involved in a proposed trade between Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians with Hardik Pandya also contributing to this deal.
But no official confirmation of such a trade has been received by either franchise.
Rajasthan Royals have now said Jaiswal is still an important part of their plan for 2027.
A senior Royals official said Jaiswal had not expressed any desire to leave the franchise and that the team was preparing for the next season with him in the squad.
So this puts the recent trade speculation into perspective. While there is speculation about a Jaiswal-Hardik swap, there is no confirmed deal.
Jaiswal has been with Rajasthan Royals since he first made his IPL debut in 2020 and has become one of the team's most central players. He was retained for ₹18 crore ahead of IPL 2026 and is one of their highest-paid players.
Jaiswal remains a key part of RR’s future.
Jaiswal's importance to Rajasthan Royals is also reflected in his performances.
The left-handed opener scored 427 runs in 16 innings at a strike rate of 152.50 in IPL 2026. He has also established himself as a regular India international in all formats.
The emergence of young opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has, however, given another interesting dimension to Rajasthan's batting plans.
Sooryavanshi had an outstanding IPL 2026 season and became an integral part of the Royals' long-term plans. So Jaiswal's position could become more complicated as both players are left-handed opening batters.
But Rajasthan's new stance suggests that the franchise does not currently see the two players as mutually exclusive.
Jaiswal has several years of IPL experience and international cricket, while Sooryavanshi is one of the most exciting young talents in the tournament.
Having both players in the squad means Rajasthan has the option of building its top order around two high-impact Indian batters.
The speculation about Jaiswal’s future also spread among the fans as well as Hardik Pandya’s status at Mumbai Indians. Hardik is being linked with other teams and Mumbai Indians are yet to confirm their plan to trade their captain.
But there is no immediate connection between Hardik's future and Jaiswal's position at Rajasthan.
Jaiswal's current situation is therefore fairly straightforward: Rajasthan Royals say they are planning with him, and the player has not told the franchise that he wants to leave.
That does not rule out a future trade because IPL negotiations can change quickly. But based on the most recent information, Jaiswal is still an RR player and is surely going to be a part of the team in IPL 2027.
The development should also result in some clarity before the IPL 2027 retention process. Rajasthan already has a solid core and keeping Jaiswal would allow the franchise to maintain continuity at the top of the order.
For Jaiswal, staying with Rajasthan means he is at the franchise where he started his IPL career and where he has played his whole career so far. From 2020 onwards, he will be a Rajasthan Royals player according to the official IPL profile.
For now, the much-talked-about Jaiswal trade seems to be just that, a rumour rather than a confirmed one.
