The biggest TV event in Tamil Nadu has been at hand for days. Bigg Boss Tamil Season 9, which is hosted by the charming Vijay Sethupathi, is on the cusp of the inevitable. Based on close to a century of high-octane action, highly controversial red cards and harrowing “Ticket to Finale” tasks, the scramble to be the next go-to-man is getting just a little closer to going all-out.
As of today, the house has evolved into a field of combat where only the strongest still survive. Here's everything you need to know about the grand finale date, the present-day finalists, and the house's current twists.
When is the Bigg Boss Tamil 9 Grand Finale?
Though speculative predictions had the show ending in the middle of January, the air has now been cleared of the evidence. The Bigg Boss Tamil 9 Grand Finale will be hosted on Sunday, January 18, 2026. The finale is slated to be a glamour gala, probably happening at 6:00 PM IST on Star Vijay and streaming at the same time on Disney+ Hotstar. The winner will be handed the prize of ₹50 lakh and a prestigious trophy by host Vijay Sethupathi.
Meet the Finalists: The Race to the Prize
Competition in Season 9 has been especially cutthroat with a "survival of the fittest" mentality.
Aurora Sinclair (1st Finalist): The first finalist from this season was Aurora Sinclair, who won the arduous Ticket to Finale task early in the season. Although she was sidelined by factions in the early weeks, after being physically on display and standing her ground in arguments, she made the top of the list for the title.
Sabarinathan (Sabari): A top player who scored a marginal two points short of the Ticket to Finale. Sabari’s skill in the art of storytelling and his relationships with the audience has kept him safe from harm’s way all season.
Divya Ganesan: Strategic in her gameplay, with strong following, Divya has been a consistently successful householder and psychological play-in.
Vikkals Vikram: The humorously wry former competitionist and humorist has won some hearts with his sense of humour, though he has some run-ins with the "danger zone" from time to time since he is an unpredictable player with no predictable character.
Gana Vinoth: A folk music force, Vinoth has ruled unofficial voting polls and scored over 25% of the public vote, making him a dark horse for the win.
Sandra Amy: Despite surviving an emotionally traumatic "car task" episode and a health scare in the aftermath, Sandra has gained a place among the elite finalists for the upcoming talent race. The last weeks of the season 9 have not gone smoothly at all. One thing that happened in the house, which was a first of its sort double red card case, were the ejections of VJ Parvathy and Kamrudin by Vijay Sethupathi after they hit each other in that task Ticket To Finale.
Also, Subiksha Kumar was ousted last week due to the audience votes, thus narrowing the field to the six remaining candidates. The next “Semi-Finale Week” will involve the return of evicted contestants and the enticing “Cash Box Challenge,” in which a finalist can decide to walk away with a portion of the prize money immediately, potentially replacing the original lineup.
