Bajaj Auto Completes €800 Million Acquisition Of KTM

India’s Bajaj Auto has finalized its long‑awaited takeover of Austrian motorcycle giant KTM. The €800 million (₹8,200 crore) transaction was cleared by European regulators in November 2025. Through its wholly owned subsidiary, Bajaj Auto International Holdings BV (BAIH), Bajaj acquired 100% of Pierre Bajaj AG (PBAG), the holding company of KTM’s parent structure.

With this, Bajaj now controls 74.9% of Pierre Mobility AG (PMAG), which owns KTM, Husqvarna, and GasGas. The remaining shares continue to be publicly traded on the Zurich and Vienna stock exchanges.

Strategic Importance:

  • Global expansion: Bajaj strengthens its footprint in Europe and North America by directly managing KTM’s global operations.
  • Brand portfolio: Control over KTM, Husqvarna, and GasGas enhances Bajaj’s premium motorcycle lineup.
  • Technology transfer: Bajaj gains deeper access to KTM’s advanced engineering, especially in electric and high‑performance motorcycles.
  • Market positioning: Bajaj moves from being a minority partner to the majority owner, reshaping its role in the global motorcycle industry.

Key Changes:

  • Renaming of companies:
  • Leadership revamp: KTM’s board and management structure will be reorganized under Bajaj’s oversight.
  • Future outlook: Analysts expect Bajaj to push KTM’s revival with new models, stronger India‑Europe synergies, and electric mobility initiatives

This acquisition is one of the largest overseas deals by an Indian automaker. It cements Bajaj Auto’s position as a global motorcycle powerhouse, combining its mass‑market strength with KTM’s premium performance heritage. For Indian riders, it could mean more KTM and Husqvarna models manufactured locally, potentially at competitive prices.
