Mahindra is getting ready for one of its most eagerly awaited new products of 2026; the production-spec Scorpio-N-based Pik Up arrives on August 14.
The lifestyle pickup has been in development for a long time starting with the launch of the Global Pik Up concept in 2023. Prior to the reveal, Mahindra has released teasers showing off the exterior and interior of the product and we know that the production product will keep the rugged looks and look to be practical but also luxurious for everyday use.
While the name of the vehicle is widely known to be Mahindra Scorpio-N Pik Up - the company has not yet officially announced the final production name.
The August 14 event is therefore highly important as Mahindra will disclose the official identity, specifications, technology package, powertrain and market plan for the vehicle. Reports are currently suggesting it will be more of a lifestyle double-cab pickup than the usual commercial workhorse.
Scorpio-N-Inspired but With a Distinct Pickup Design
The upcoming pickup is closely related to the Scorpio-N, but it will not be an SUV with its rear section converted into a load bed. The teaser images show a dedicated double-cab pickup body with a large rear cargo area and styling changes that help distinguish it from the SUV.
At the front, the vehicle should have the familiar Scorpio-family design lines in its grille, lighting and bumper treatment. The overall stance looks open and muscular in shape with a tall bonnet and large wheel arches which make the pickup appear so much more muscular on the road. The production model is also expected to have practical side steps and rugged exterior elements for its lifestyle-pickup brand and look to be a work of art.
The big load bed at the rear is one of the biggest differences from the Scorpio-N SUV. Teaser images show the MAHINDRA lettering across the tailgate. The vertically arranged LED tail lamps and a chunky rear bumper are also prominent. It’s all part of the global pickup truck look of Mahindra design and the design of the vehicle in a more global pickup truck style is still retained.
Premium Cabin Expected
One of the biggest surprises in the teasers is the cabin. Instead of carrying over the Scorpio-N dashboard completely, the upcoming pickup looks to have a substantially redesigned interior. The dashboard is more modern, horizontal and the central touchscreen is clearly up front for easy access.
The cabin is expected to have an impressive infotainment display, digital instrument cluster and modern multifunction steering wheel. Reports also mention dual-zone climate control, wireless smartphone charging and premium audio equipment.
Higher versions could even have powered and ventilated front seats and various convenience features. Mahindra is likely to confirm the list of equipment for the entire range at the launch.
Technology will be one of the key aspects of the new pickup's appeal. When Mahindra introduced the Global Pik Up concept in 2023, it was clear that the production vehicle would have advanced features including Level 2 autonomous driving, semi-automatic parking, 5G connectivity, and a sunroof. It is not clear which of the concept features will go into the production model and which will be limited to specific variants or markets.
Expected 2.2-Litre Diesel Engine
Under the bonnet, the Scorpio-N-based pickup is expected to use Mahindra's 2.2-litre diesel engine, which is already associated with the Scorpio-N. Industry reports suggest the pickup could produce around 170hp, although the final output and tuning will need to be confirmed by Mahindra.
The engine will be available with six-speed manual and six-speed automatic transmission. In this case, buyers would choose between the manual and automatic configuration for city driving and long-distance touring with the automatic.
The four-wheel drive is also expected to be a major component of the vehicle's package. Thanks to the pickup's body-on-frame structure and Scorpio-N connection, it is ideally suited for a 4WD setup, and terrain-oriented driving modes could also make it more capable of handling tricky terrain. A full 4WD specification, drive modes and off-road equipment will be revealed in the debut.
Lifestyle Pickup Rather Than Just a Work Vehicle
Mahindra seems to be positioning the new vehicle differently from its existing commercial pickup products. The Scorpio-N-based model is aimed at buyers who want the practicality of an open cargo bed without giving up the comfort, technology and road presence of a modern SUV.
Such a positioning could attract customers who use their vehicles daily during the weekend for outdoor activities and long-distance road trips with the added cargo flexibility. Because a double-cab configuration means passengers can sit in a rear-seat configuration, the vehicles are more available for families than standard one-cab or commercial vehicles.
The premium approach also puts the upcoming Mahindra in competition with lifestyle pickups such as the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu V-Cross. The price of the Scorpio-N-based Pik Up is not yet officially announced. Current industry estimates place the starting price around ₹25 lakh with automatic and higher specification variants costing more. These figures are estimates and should not be considered as official pricing until Mahindra announces the final line-up.
The key date is August 14, 2026, when the production vehicle will make its global debut. Though the model will be very popular in India it is still not clear on the exact Indian launch date, the variants and price.

I think that the Mahindra Scorpio-N Pik Up is one of the most eagerly awaited vehicles coming from Indian car owners. This upcoming vehicle reveal has to be the most interesting one. If Mahindra can take the Scorpio-N with the usual characteristics of the Scorpio-N and merge it with the practicality of a pickup and the comfort and beauty of the premium cabin of the full vehicle, the new model is going to bring a new dimension to India’s lifestyle pickup market.
More importantly, it is also expected to create more competition in areas where the market is currently pretty much limited in comparison to the mainstream SUV market.
