It is Jaguar Land Rover's first all-electric Range Rover, and it will be sold across India as early as September 2, 2026.
The electric SUV is a luxury vehicle (and looks) with a fully electric powertrain of the Range Rover. The Range Rover Electric has a claimed WLTP range of up to 600 km, which makes it one of the most capable luxury electric SUVs in terms of claimed driving range.
At the heart of the SUV is a large 118.5kWh battery pack with two permanent magnet electric motors. The dual-motor setup generates 550PS and 850Nm of torque, providing powerful acceleration and the refinement that should be expected from a Range Rover.
The electric SUV is also built to retain the legendary all-terrain capabilities of the Range Rover family. JLR says its new Integrated Traction Management system can respond to changing surfaces in as little as 50 milliseconds. The vehicle can also wade through water up to 900mm, illustrating that the move to electric power has not been at the expense of off-road capability.
Charging performance is another highlight. Range Rover Electric has an 800-volt architecture and supports DC fast charging. JLR claims that the battery can charge from 10% to 80% in about 22 minutes using suitable high-power charging infrastructure. A 10-minute charging session can reportedly add around 220 km of WLTP range.
In India, customers can book for several configurations. These include the standard-wheelbase Autobiography, long-wheelbase SV, SV Ultra and SV Black versions, as well as the standard-wheelbase First Edition.
The Range Rover Electric will be imported to India as a fully imported model, and pricing for this is not yet announced. The SUV will be positioned at the premium end of the luxury electric vehicle market in India and will be competing with top-end electric SUVs from other luxury marques.
The electric Range Rover is produced at JLR's Solihull, UK manufacturing site, the birthplace of Range Rover production. The company calls this its first Range Rover with electric propulsion and says the vehicle has been designed with the same luxury, comfort and off-road capability as the nameplate.
Performance is also an important attraction. The two electric motors deliver quiet acceleration and instant torque, and the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in approximately 4.5 seconds. The high output, large battery, and traction management are expected to make it both a vehicle that can be used on a long-distance journey and in off-road conditions.
For Indian luxury-car buyers, the launch of bookings alongside the global unveiling is particularly important. Unlike many previous international launches where India received new models months later, JLR has opened the order books for the Range Rover Electric in the country at the same time as its global reveal.
The company has yet to provide India price and delivery details. A 600 km claimed range, fast charging, dual motor power and Range Rover off-road capability for the new EV will make it one of the most eagerly awaited luxury electric SUVs coming to India in 2026.
With bookings now open, the focus will be on the India pricing, variant-wise specifications and delivery timeline of the Range Rover Electric.
