The Sierra EV is expected to compete in the rapidly growing mid-size premium electric SUV segment with the Curvv EV and Harrier EV in Tata's growing electric vehicle portfolio.

What can be expected from buyers before it's released?

Expected Price

The Tata Sierra EV is expected to be priced between ₹18.99 lakh and ₹25 lakh (ex-showroom), which is quite a competitive price for the premium electric SUV segment in India.

Tata Motors will also introduce its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) subscription model for the Sierra EV. With this plan, customers buy a car at a price that is less than the initial rate, but pay for battery usage separately, making ownership of the car cheaper.

Battery, Range and Performance

The Sierra EV is likely to be based on Tata Motors' advanced acti.ev architecture, the same dedicated EV platform underpinning the Harrier EV.

The SUV will come with two battery pack options:

65kWh battery pack
75kWh battery pack

The larger battery can be expected to carry a driving range of 530km to 550km on one charge, which is ideal for city commuting and long-distance travel.

In terms of drivetrain, Tata expects to offer:

Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) as the standard configuration. Quad Wheel Drive (QWD/AWD) for higher variants, better traction and off-road capability. Premium Interior with Triple Screens

Inside, the Sierra EV is expected to have one of the most technologically advanced cabins in Tata’s line-up.

Expected highlights include:

  • Triple-screen dashboard layout
  • Large infotainment touchscreen
  • Digital instrument cluster
  • Dedicated passenger display
  • Augmented Reality (AR) Head-Up Display
  • Integrated premium dashboard soundbar

The dashboard design is expected to borrow cues from the Harrier EV while offering a cleaner and more futuristic look.

Comfort and Luxury Features

Tata Motors is likely to equip the Sierra EV with some premium comfort features, including:

  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Ventilated front seats
  • Thigh support extenders
  • Four-spoke multifunction steering wheel
  • Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
  • Wireless smartphone charging
  • Dual-zone climate control
  • Premium 12-speaker audio system
  • Connected car technology with OTA updates

The SUV will have good cabin space with premium materials throughout the interior too.

Two Seating Options Expected

The Sierra EV could, unlike many electric SUVs available today, be available in a variety of seating configurations.

Expected options include:

  • Standard five-seat layout
  • Three-row version for larger families

Tata could attract buyers looking for a practical electric SUV with additional passenger space.

Safety Features

Safety is likely to be one of the Sierra EV's most attractive factors.

Likely safety equipment includes:

  • Six airbags
  • 360-degree surround-view camera
  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
  • All-wheel disc brakes
  • Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
  • Front and rear parking sensors
  • ISOFIX child seat mounts

The SUV will also receive Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) with:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Autonomous Emergency Braking
  • Lane Keep Assist
  • Blind Spot Detection
  • Forward Collision Warning
  • Traffic Sign Recognition

Rivals in the Indian market

Once launched, Tata Sierra EV will compete with many upcoming and existing electric SUVs in India, such as:

  • Hyundai Creta Electric
  • Mahindra BE 6
  • Maruti Suzuki e Vitara
  • MG ZS EV

In terms of battery capacity, premium cabin, AWD and iconic Sierra branding, Tata will be positioning the SUV as a premium alternative in the segment.

Why the Sierra EV Matters

The return of the Sierra is significant not only because it brings back one of Tata Motors’ most iconic nameplates but it is the company’s next step in India’s new electric vehicle (EV) trend.

The Sierra EV will become one of Tata’s flagship electric models as consumers shift from the luxury electric SUVs in the market towards longer range and advanced technology.

If Tata can deliver the expected pricing, 550km range, feature-rich cabin and competitive technology package, the Sierra EV could emerge as one of the biggest EV launches of 2026.

With a launch date on June 30, Tata Motors will have to see how the Sierra EV can live up to the huge fanfare for it.
