Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural and nine other districts may experience rain at isolated places as per weather forecast. Coastal Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts are also likely to get rainfall and most of North Interior Karnataka districts are likely to be dry.

The latest forecast draws attention to changing weather conditions across state (especially Bengaluru and neighbouring districts) where cloudy skies and occasional showers are expected during day time.

Light to moderate rain at one or two places in Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu, Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar, Ramanagara, Bengaluru Rural, Bengaluru Urban and Kolar districts is possible.

These are the 11 districts of South Interior Karnataka. People living there need not worry about continuous rainfall but occasional showers if they have outdoor activities or travel plans. But it doesn’t mean that all these districts will get rain continuously; rain will occur only at isolated places so some areas may get showers while others remain dry.

Bengaluru is among the major cities mentioned in the rainfall forecast. Bengaluru Urban and Bengaluru Rural districts may get light to moderate rain at one or two places. Shower possibility could bring some local weather changes (cloudy skies and intermittent rainfall in some neighbourhoods).

Commuters should watch out for changing conditions especially when they are travelling as even a short spell of rain can disrupt road movement and traffic. Residents should also check local forecasts before going outdoors.

Apart from Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan, Kodagu and Chikkamagaluru will also receive isolated showers. These districts have already received rainfall in the last 24 hours. Shivamogga, Chamarajanagar, Ramanagara and Kolar are also included in the forecast as rain activity may continue in parts of southern interior Karnataka. Ballari, Chikkaballapur, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Tumakuru and Vijayanagara will remain mainly dry.

In Coastal Karnataka Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts may get light to moderate rain at isolated places. North Kannada will have mainly dry weather. The coastal region has received rainfall at some places in the last 24 hours so scattered showers are possible in some areas too.

People travelling through coastal districts should keep a check on local weather updates if they plan journeys or outdoor activities.

North Interior Karnataka will be dry on Today also. Bagalkote, Belagavi, Bidar, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Kalaburagi, Koppal, Raichur, Vijayapura and Yadgir districts are expected to have mainly dry weather on Today. Unlike southern interior and parts of the coast these districts are not expected to see any rainfall activity. People in these districts can expect mostly dry conditions although local weather conditions may vary.

The rainfall during the 24 hours ending on Friday evening shows how recently parts of Karnataka have been active. Bellur in Mandya district got the highest rainfall (7 cms) among the places mentioned above, Arakalgudu Hassan district received 4 cms and Konanur in same district 3 cms. Hoskote Bengaluru Rural district also received 3 cms rainfall. Some places in southern interior got heavy showers while North Interior Karnataka remained dry.

Overall Karnataka will see uneven rainfall on Today. Isolated showers are likely in 11 South Interior districts and two coastal districts. Bengaluru is among the areas to watch as rain could affect daily travel plans and outdoor activities too. Most of North Interior Karnataka will have dry weather.

People should follow official weather bulletins for district-wise updates (rainfall intensity and timing vary from one place to another).
