Nandini Milk Price Hike: Karnataka Consumers Get a Shock on Kannada Rajyotsava; Prices Rise by Up to ₹12 Per Litre

Bangalore consumers were surprised by Kannada Rajyotsava (November 1) when Nandini milk prices increased across varieties. The government had said toned milk would be priced higher by ₹8 per litre, but retail price revisions show certain varieties have become costlier by as much as ₹12 per litre.

The new prices will hike monthly household expenditure of families across the state who buy special toned, Shubham and homogenised milk regularly.

The price revision has also led to questions among consumers as the increase is not uniform across all milk varieties. Depending on what kind of Nandini milk you buy, you now have to pay an extra ₹8 to ₹12 per litre.

Nandini Toned Milk Price Increased by ₹8

The Nandini toned milk that is commonly bought in Karnataka has become costlier by ₹8 per litre.

Earlier, a litre of toned milk was sold for ₹46. Now, with the revision, the new retail price is ₹54.

So households buying one litre of toned milk every day will have to spend an additional ₹240 per month (assuming the revised price remains unchanged throughout the month).

Homogenised Milk Price Rises by ₹9

The price increase is slightly higher for Nandini homogenised milk.

At ₹47 per litre, homogenised milk will now cost ₹56. That is an increase of ₹9 per litre.

Consumers who like this variety will therefore have to pay more than the initially announced ₹8 hike.

Special Toned Milk Becomes Costlier by ₹12

Of all the varieties, Nandini Special Toned Milk has seen one of the highest price increases.

The retail price of special toned milk was ₹52 per litre. Now customers will have to pay ₹64 per litre under the new pricing pattern.

This is a steep increase of ₹12 per litre (one of the most expensive revisions among milk varieties mentioned above).

For families buying one litre a day the extra monthly outlay will be ₹360.

Shubham Milk Prices Also Increased by ₹12

Nandini and Shubham milk consumers will also have to pay more every day.

The price of Shubham milk has gone up from ₹52 to ₹64 per litre (i.e., by ₹12).

Similarly, Nandini Homogenised Shubham milk has become more expensive — earlier it was ₹53 per litre, but now the retail price is ₹65.

This represents another ₹12 increase per litre.

Nandini Milk New Price List: Old vs Revised Rates

The revised retail prices for the five milk varieties are as follows:

Milk Variety Old Price New Price Price Hike
Toned Milk ₹46 ₹54 ₹8
Homogenised Milk ₹47 ₹56 ₹9
Special Toned Milk ₹52 ₹64 ₹12
Shubham Milk ₹52 ₹64 ₹12
Homogenised Shubham Milk ₹53 ₹65 ₹12

Higher Milk Prices to Impact Household Budgets

The latest Nandini milk price revision will affect households across Karnataka. Millions of families buy milk daily, so even a small rise adds up over time.

If consumers buy one litre every day, the additional monthly cost will be ₹240-360 (depending on the milk variety).

Special toned and Shubham milk, which are purchased by most consumers, have become more expensive by ₹12 per litre.

With the new prices coming into effect around Kannada Rajyotsava (November 1), consumers who visit Nandini outlets and retail shops will have to factor in higher rates when purchasing their daily milk supply.

The gap between the announced ₹8 increase and actual retail revisions for different varieties has only added to consumer concerns and made the new Nandini price list an important topic of discussion in households across Karnataka.
