While horseback riding is not a standard or officially recognised Zomato delivery method, the sight of delivery workers occasionally turning to unconventional transportation has caught public attention.

The viral video, appears to be from Kammanahalli in Bengaluru, shows heavy traffic on the streets as a person dressed in Zomato delivery uniform, carrying a delivery bag, rides a horse against the direction of traffic.

The unusual choice of transport has prompted several humorous reactions. Some users joked that navigating Bengaluru's notorious traffic might actually be easier on a horse. Others pointed out that, unlike motor vehicles, horses do not come with registration numbers that can easily be used to issue an online traffic challan.

Some users also connected the incident to rising petrol prices, joking that this might be what everyone would eventually have to resort to if fuel prices continued to skyrocket.

This is not the first time a food delivery worker has been spotted using a horse to complete deliveries.

In January 2024, during a fuel shortage in Hyderabad caused by panic buying amid a nationwide truckers' strike, a Zomato delivery executive named Syed Farooq took to horseback to complete his orders.

Farooq, who was unable to obtain petrol despite waiting in a queue for several hours, borrowed his friend's horse and delivered two food orders through the city. The incident, which took place around Chanchalguda, went viral and earned him considerable attention online.

While horses may not be the most efficient means of transportation for modern food delivery, they certainly offer an unconventional way of navigating congested streets.
