ASUS has introduced the new ASUS Pad in India, bringing advanced tandem OLED display technology to the Android tablet segment. The tablet is priced at ₹45,990 and has a high-resolution display with a MediaTek Dimensity 8300 processor, 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and a 9,000mAh battery.
The ASUS Pad is expected to stand out mainly because of its display technology. OLED panels are already available in smartphones, laptops and tablets, but tandem OLED is a relatively rare feature in the Android tablet market.
We are a bit more technologically advanced in the development of multi-layer OLED technology, and the dual-layer device for the combined display is a new technology, but we are using two OLED layers and not one layer. It enables us to have more brightness, better power efficiency, and longer display life.
The tablet has a 12.2-inch 2.8K display with a resolution of 2800 × 1840 pixels and a 3:2 aspect ratio. The taller aspect ratio should provide more vertical space for reading documents, browsing websites, editing content, and multitasking.
ASUS has also added the 144Hz refresh rate to the display, which allows for smoother animations and scrolling and a similar gaming performance. The screen has a 92% screen-to-body ratio, making it modern and with relatively slim bezels on the tablet.
The display supports up to 600 nits of typical brightness and a claimed 2,000 nits of peak brightness. It also covers 100% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut, which might make the device suitable for watching high-quality video, viewing photographs and doing creative work.
The panel has TÜV Low Blue Light certification and Low Flicker certification for better viewing comfort. The main objective of both is to reduce eye strain in use over long periods of time and, depending on the brightness settings and usage habits, will work well for that.
The ASUS Pad supports the ASUS Pen 2.0 and newer compatible stylus models. Stylus support could make the tablet useful for note-taking, sketching, annotation, and other productivity tasks.
Under the hood, the device is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8300 processor with clock speeds of up to 3.35GHz. The tablet has 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and provides two storage capacities: 128GB and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
Users with extra space can also use the integrated microSD card slot for storage expansion to 1TB. This could be useful for large media files, documents, applications, and offline content.
Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. The tablet also has a USB 3.0 Type-C port for DisplayPort 1.4 and Power Delivery 3.0 to communicate with compatible external displays and accessories.
The ASUS Pad has a quad-speaker setup for entertainment with Dolby Atmos support for movies, music, and gaming, and will give a better audio experience without external speakers.
The tablet has a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. The front camera also supports face unlock for convenient access.
ASUS has equipped the device with a 9,000mAh battery and 45W fast charging support. Based on the announced figures, the tablet can charge from zero to 50% in about 30 minutes with supported charging.
Design-wise, the ASUS Pad has a fibreglass rear panel that measures 6.5mm in thickness and weighs about 523 grams. A protective case is also included in the box, with support for four different viewing modes.
The tablet runs Android 16 and has sensors such as a gyroscope, accelerometer, Hall sensor, and ambient light sensor.

We think the ASUS Pad is a high-end Android tablet that will work well for entertainment, productivity and creative use because of its tandem OLED display, high refresh rate, large battery, stylus support and premium connectivity.
The device could appeal to users looking for a large OLED screen for media consumption and work without moving to a considerably more expensive flagship tablet. Its final market performance, however, will depend on availability, software optimisation, accessory support and competition from other Android tablets in the same price range.
