PlayStation players in India (both for gaming and for subscription) will henceforth have to pay more to get access to online multiplayer and subscription-based play via the official PlayStation Plus price hike across all tiers across India.
The new pricing of PS Plus Essential, Extra and Deluxe plans comes into play on May 21, 2026, when monthly and yearly subscription prices will all take a significant jump. The increase in price impacts both new subscribers and users renewing their plans once they expire.
Sony has said in official emails to subscribers that the change is because of “ongoing market conditions” affecting some parts of the world. For the regular PlayStation users in the country, especially for those who play online using the PS Plus through PlayStation, the increase represents yet another cost atop internet prices, gaming spend and console accessories.
PlayStation Plus India Pricing Increase: New Monthly Prices
Among all three groups of subscription charges in the three stages, Sony has increased prices every month. A ₹150 increase appears on Essential for all the introductory levels required for online multiplayer games. The latest monthly prices would be as follows.

| PS Plus Extra | ₹749 | ₹979 | ₹230 |
| PS Plus Deluxe | ₹849 | ₹1,109 | ₹260 |
The PS Plus Essential tier is generally considered the easiest option for casual and competitive gamers who are game fans who will download games like EA FC, GTA Online, Call of Duty, Fortnite and others that can be played with their friend as well as with another player.
Also, the Extra and Deluxe tiers come with access to bigger game libraries and more catalogues and are much more expensive for monthly subscribers.

What Was It About Sony's PS Plus Prices
That We Can't Learn from. Sony announced price hikes on the PlayStation Plus previously in the US, UK and European regions. Though originally not listed as affected markets, India’s new pricing is now in effect after May 20. The company said “ongoing market conditions” were the main reason for the price adjustment. Sony has cited similar explanations for rising prices for PlayStation hardware and gaming services around the world.
The PS Plus Essential monthly subscription in the U.S. has gone from $9.99 to $10.99. They have also been implemented in the UK and in overseas markets with additional price changes. The biggest impact likely will be felt by those on a month-to-month basis, rather than by those with annual plans.
Casuals with the main use case for PS Plus for online multiplayer gaming may also think about whether monthly subscriptions are still affordable. In India, however, not all of the options are as basic as PS Plus. Many regions' current subscribers are likely to pay this old-model price until its expiry, upgrade or downgrade. New users and new customers, however, will have to fork out the new rates right away.
The rise is also a new one for a country where gaming prices have jumped rapidly, with console prices climbing, AAA games launching in droves and accessories costing too much anyway. For many players who used to consider what initially seemed like a manageable monthly subscription to have something that worked well for them, rather than a massive investment in this subscription price, it has become a bigger part of the overall gaming budget.
Even with the price hike, the PlayStation Plus is now a must-have for most PS4 and PS5 online gamers, so there can be a lot of users who can only feel the pressure to pick up the tab.
