Samsung is preparing to launch its next luxury foldable smartphone, the Samsung W27, in China on October 29 according to leaked images ahead of the launch. A leaked image has revealed dark blue in dark blue and gold cover around the rear camera module.
The premium design has attracted smartphone fans in particular, Samsung’s foldable phone line-up has caught the attention of people who are fans of smartphones. Samsung has not yet confirmed most of the information mentioned in the leak in depth, but with a premium finish on the product it will be aimed at people who are looking for a high-end phone with an exclusive design.
The leaked images do make it seem like Samsung is putting a lot of emphasis on the appearance of the W27’s looks, as noted in the leaked image suggests.
With the dark blue rear panel with gold-coloured camera trimmings on top and gold colouring on the front and gold-coloured camera trimmings on the camera trimmings, the W27 looks much more luxurious than most other phones. These design elements could help differentiate the W27 from Samsung’s standard foldable models in China where the company has previously produced special-branded devices that are more likely to be available for the premium market in China, where that’s where Samsung has previously focused on, for example, with the foldable phones and the W27 has to be the company has a history of making special branded products to the premium market.
The final colour options, materials and finish will be confirmed at the official launch date, but the final colour, materials and finish of the display at least will need to be confirmed.
There are rumours of a Samsung W27 having similar specifications as Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra: A book-like folding design in the phone that is book-like for a tablet that can have the portability of a smartphone with the same size and more screen for productivity, entertainment and multitasking.
Foldable displays (and a larger screen) can be used for reading documents, looking up web websites, running compatible apps side by side and watching videos. Display size, processor, camera hardware, battery capacity and charging time for the W27, battery capacity and the W27 is not yet confirmed in the information we have so far.
Samsung’s W-series are known for being the premium foldable products that are available to Chinese customers. The W27 should do the same. But the difference is that the W27 will offer a more design-oriented option to Samsung’s high-end smartphone line. The October 29 event should give us a better sense of the phone’s features, prices, configuration options, and sales plans.
Another aspect of interest is a potential in-store collection coming in on November 5. If true, then customers in China could buy or collect the device soon after it is released. But I suspect that date is a guess until Samsung or its authorised retail partners release official availability information. Pre-orders, delivery time and individual colour variants will vary by retailer and configuration.
India also remains an open question. Samsung’s Chinese-focused W-series phones do not automatically launch in India, and the company has not made the W27 available in India. So the customer in India should wait for official announcement of the device as it will be sold in India. If it is available through third-party importers, the warranty coverage, regional software differences, network compatibility, and after-sale support are also in question.
The launch is also in line with the growing popularity of foldable smartphones as manufacturers attempt to make flexible-screen devices more practical and desirable. Premium materials, special finishes and improved multitasking experiences are all part of the competition in this category.
Samsung’s luxury model like the W27 may strengthen its position in this category of consumers looking for something different than what they see in the market.
At present, dark-blue and gold is a leak, and not a final product specification. Samsung’s October 29 China event will clarify the W27’s final design, hardware details, price and retail schedule. All future buyers should take claims about its similarities to the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and the possible November 5 collection date as unconfirmed. For international consumers, the big question is when Samsung will release the luxury foldable worldwide, and in particular in India.
