Russia Hacked Jared Kushner's Phone? Report Alleges $2 Billion UAE-Saudi Money Trail

New evidence suggests that Kushner’s phone has been hacked by Russian intelligence operatives. This has led to new speculation on how wealthy Middle Eastern leaders and accounts of $2 billion have been uncovered by Dutch intelligence. Kushner has categorically denied these allegations and has not even been supported by any evidence.

Alleged Russian Hack and Dutch Intelligence Operation

According to the Vanity Fair report, the operation dates back to 2017 and involves Dutch intelligence, which recruited a Russian military intelligence operative who provided access to a sensitive Russian server containing screenshots of Kushner's iPhone X. Dutch intelligence has since learned the phone's activities and examined Kushner's communications and financial dealings, it reported.

Kushner served as a senior adviser throughout Trump’s presidency and was involved in U.S. diplomatic attempts in the Middle East such as Israel, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. But the report’s claims about the phone hack have not been independently proven in a public legal finding.

Report Claims Financial Accounts Held Billions

The investigation claims information from the compromised mobile phone provided access to two Middle Eastern bank accounts and related financial arrangements involving at least $2 billion. The report mentions an account called Alpha, which is allegedly linked to First Abu Dhabi Bank and directed by UAE National Security Adviser Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

According to the allegations, the account was associated with financial arrangements with UAE and Saudi leadership and was involved in hundreds of millions of dollars routed through Azerbaijan. Beta is another account that received a transfer of nearly $1 billion to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The details of the accounts, their ownership, the movements of funds and the purposes of the transactions are disputed. The reported financial figures should therefore be treated as accusations from the investigation rather than evidence of wrongdoing.

UAE and Saudi Leadership Named in Allegations

The report also discusses alleged financial ties between Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the UAE and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. It claims that the arrangements were linked to regional diplomacy and proposals of Kushner's investment activities.

Kushner founded Affinity Partners after leaving the White House. The investment firm has attracted substantial funding from foreign investors such as Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund. Because of the allegations in the report’s findings, it’s possible that the relationship between financial relationships and diplomatic activities in government overlapped with those in Kushner’s role.

But investment relationships or financial transactions do not necessarily mean bribery, improper influence or criminal offence. A decision to prove a transaction in violation of law would need verified financial records, evidence of intent and examination by authorities.

Kushner Rejects the Claims

Kushner has strongly denied what is alleged in the report. His attorneys have said the allegations are false and lack evidence. He has also threatened legal action against the publisher, his attorney said.

The denial is a crucial part of the story. At this stage, the allegations have not been presented as established findings from a court or a publicly confirmed government investigation. The report is based on intelligence sources and investigative material, and Kushner disputes its conclusions.

But the allegations could be open to speculation given Kushner’s position in government, and his involvement in Middle East diplomacy and the size of the financial figures reported. There are questions about transparency, potential conflicts of interest and disclosure obligations if credible evidence supports the transactions.

Questions Over Security and Political Implications

The alleged phone compromise also raises more general questions about cybersecurity and the susceptibility of senior government officials to intelligence operations. If done, sensitive communications and financial information could have been leaked to foreign intelligence services.

The claims could have political implications for the Trump administration’s previous Middle East policy-making, particularly its relations with Saudi Arabia and the UAE. But any conclusions about improper influence need to be based on evidence rather than the existence of diplomatic or financial connections alone.

The report has heard about intelligence gathering, international banking and political ties. But so far, few of the central questions remain open, including what about the purported hack, the true ownership and purpose of the accounts and how any financial relationships were linked to official decisions.

For now, the alleged Russian-connected phone hack and the $2 billion UAE-Saudi money trail remain contested claims. Kushner has denied wrongdoing, and there is no indication that he committed a crime. More independent evidence or official findings would be needed to determine if the allegations have a factual and legal basis.
