The PlayStation 5 has a large library of games since its release and there are some games that stand out for their remarkable graphics, quality gameplay and the ability to show Sony's console what it is capable of doing. While the definition of "PS5 exclusive" has become more complex as some PS5 games have been ported to PC, there are still lots of games that do make the PlayStation 5 an attractive platform for players. From cinematic adventure and intense action to atmospheric horror and family-friendly games to the experience, the console is not just for all types of players.
Astro Bot is one of the first games PS5 owners should consider. A team Asobi made the game and it is a 3D platform game with creativity and exploration and the DualSense wireless controller. Astro Bot quickly became one of the most popular PlayStation games with a smooth single player adventure with amazing levels, collectibles and references to PlayStation history.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is another very big PS5 game. By Insomniac Games, the superhero adventure extends the Spider-Man universe in dimensions even further with a bigger set of characters Peter Parker and Miles Morales and missions and enemies. The fast web-swinging, cinematic and gunplay-based gameplay make it one of the best superhero games on PlayStation.
Demon's Souls is a great PS5 title for action fans. The remake from Bluepoint Games brings the original PlayStation 3 classic with new graphics, more detailed environments and a modern presentation. With its tough combat, it demands patience and timing, and a lot of players love games like this where you have to learn the enemy patterns and be able to improve on skills.
Another game that shows the technical power of the PS5 is Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. The colourful action-platformer takes Ratchet and Clank through different worlds with shooting, exploration, platforming and humour. Its fast transitions through these environments made use of the SSD speed in the PS5, and the DualSense controller also gives feedback in the game.
Resident Evil 4 is a good survival horror game with modern graphics, modern mechanics and a modern reworking of the classic adventure. It’s not technically a PS5-only game so much as it’s a modern game that makes the most of the hardware on your system. Leon S. Kennedy is a hero trying to get the U.S. president’s kidnapped daughter, and in the process he is faced with dangerous enemies and increasingly sinister environments.
Another game in high demand is Returnal, a fast third-person shooter with roguelike elements. Selene is an astronaut trapped in an alien-like environment, and when death brings her back to the beginning of the cycle, she is forced to do battle, and then explore the world. It’s challenging as is.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is also a major game for RPG fans. The title continues Cloud Strife and his crew as they leave Midgar and travel across a wider world and expand their world. With very real-time combat and a deep storyline and vast environments, Rebirth is a massive role-playing game for today's console.
Demon’s Souls, Spider-Man 2 and other PlayStation games reflect the platform’s emphasis on cinematic storytelling and polished single-player experiences. Less colorful and lighter games like Astro Bot and Ratchet & Clank are the other way around.
It is also worth recalling that PlayStation is changing exclusivity. Some of the games that were exclusively released on PlayStation consoles have been released on PC. If you are interested in exclusives, you should look at the current release of any of the games.
In short, the PS5 has an impressive collection of games in all genres. Astro Bot, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Demon's Souls, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Returnal and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth should be on our list for PS5 owners to play. Superhero adventure, platformers, RPGs, horror and more of these games are proof that the PS5 will be a game player’s choice (and not just a gaming console) in 2026.
