Warner Music Group Expands Tech Footprint With World-Class Music Technology Organisation in Bengaluru

Warner Music Group (WMG) is expanding its technology presence in India with plans to build a world-class music technology company in Bengaluru to cement its position as one of the leading technology and engineering destinations globally. It is going to bring together engineering, data, infrastructure and product capabilities to accommodate Warner Music Group’s technology requirements worldwide.

Recent WMG recruitment activity suggests Bengaluru is now becoming a major technology centre for the company. Recent openings include software engineering, data platform, DevOps, infrastructure, product and engineering management positions in Bangalore. Technology is a key component of its music business as the company says it is involved in artist onboarding and digital music distribution and data management, artificial intelligence and analytics in all areas of the company’s music business.

The proposed Bengaluru organization is particularly significant as the music industry increasingly relies on technology. Music companies now have huge digital catalogues, work with multiple streaming platforms, process a lot of consumption data and are required to build sophisticated systems to manage artists, songwriters, recordings and rights. Technology teams at WMG are therefore expected to work on systems that go much further than just entertainment.

Data is one of the key focus areas. A current WMG engineering leadership role in Bengaluru describes plans for a new-generation data platform to enhance freshness, accuracy, comprehensiveness and accessibility of information on artists, songwriters and their works. This platform is also going to process data on music consumption from digital services and support applications that include marketing optimisation, trend analysis, machine learning and generative AI.

In addition, engineers are also being hired in the company’s music distribution technology area. WMG's Bengaluru engineering jobs include scalable systems and the implementation of digital marketing of music to digital services such as Spotify and YouTube. So India is the strategic asset in the technological infrastructure that enables music to reach audiences around the world.

Bengaluru expansion is happening as Warner Music Group is deepening its commitment to the Indian music ecosystem. In April 2026, Warner Chappell Music, WMG’s global publishing arm, will launch direct operations in India.

The company said that it would also give Indian songwriters access to its global creative network, rights-management infrastructure and technology to make it easier for them to create and distribute music. WMG also emphasized the rapid growth of the Indian music industry and the increasing importance of independent and non-film music.

Technology is already a key component of WMG's India strategy. Warner Chappell's India operations are incorporating technology like Global Match, an AI-powered royalty-matching tool, as well as a client portal for visibility into earnings and catalogue performance and Pulse songwriter application. These efforts show how data and artificial intelligence are increasingly being integrated into music rights management and creator services.

The Bengaluru technology group could further strengthen this digital ecosystem. The city is known for engineering talent globally, startup culture and high concentration of technology professionals and as a result WMG has access to high-end developers, data experts, cloud engineers, product professionals, and AI talent.

The company’s recruitment listings also suggest a technology organisation with a range of positions in data platforms, backend engineering, DevOps, infrastructure and product management.

The expansion could also create opportunities for Indian technology professionals interested in entertainment and software. Rather than focusing on technology work only in the IT industry, a global music company can also offer engineers the opportunity to create platforms that directly impact music discovery, distribution, audience engagement, artist services and rights management.

The development is also part of a wider transformation taking place in the world of entertainment. Streaming, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, machine learning and advanced analytics are transforming how music is made, distributed, marketed and monetised. And for companies like WMG to have tech teams that can make world-class global systems work has become a more vital competitive advantage.

Bengaluru’s role could also extend beyond being just another corporate technology office. If WMG continues to evolve and grow its engineering and product teams there in the city, the operation could also be a vital place to build technology for the whole music company worldwide. Current WMG job listings already include the vision of developing world-class systems and working closely with engineering teams in North America.

Warner Music India has also expanded its Artist Services and Expanded Rights division in India to be focused on developing and managing talent; touring and partnerships with brands, as well as artists and management. This is an obvious expansion of WMG’s vision to build an entertainment ecosystem in India and connect Indian talent globally.

As a music market that is more and more digital and technology-driven, Warner Music Group’s Bengaluru push is a positive development for both India’s technology sector and its music economy. Bengaluru’s engineering talent and the surging music market in India will give WMG a solid base from which to push the next generation of music technology.

In our expanding organisation, we can expect working on music distribution, data infrastructure, cloud systems, artificial intelligence, digital products and tools for artists and music professionals. So Bengaluru initiative is not just an initiative to build a huge audience and creative talent for India: it means that India is now a place for the technology that is the backbone of the international music industry.
