The Xiaomi 18 series will launch soon in China but a new certification listing suggests that the smartphone maker is preparing its next flagship smartphone for international markets at least a bit earlier than usual.
According to reports, the so-called global version of the standard Xiaomi 18 has already been listed in Taiwan's National Communications Commission (NCC) certification database. And this listing explains storage options, durability and charging capabilities, giving fans a taste of what is expected to be available outside China.
Xiaomi 18 Global Variant Appears in NCC Database
According to XpertPick, a Xiaomi smartphone with the model number 2611FPNFAG has been found in Taiwan's NCC certification database.
The listing indicates the device is a Xiaomi smartphone and could be related to Xiaomi 18. While Xiaomi has not officially confirmed the global launch date, the certification of the list has fueled speculation the international release could come earlier than previous flagship launches.
Xiaomi usually introduces its best smartphones in China and goes international just months later. The latest certification is for Xiaomi 18, so Xiaomi may be preparing for a quicker global release this time.
Two Storage Options Reportedly Listed
The certification is supposedly revealing two storage configurations for the alleged global version of Xiaomi 18.
The smartphone is said to be equipped with 256GB and 512GB internal storage. The certification reports that the 256GB model has about 198GB of usable storage, and the 512GB version has roughly 469GB.
The difference between advertised and usable storage is normal, as part of the internal memory is occupied by the operating system and pre-installed software.
IP68 Protection and Fast Charging
Another aspect is the addition of IP68-rated protection which would make Xiaomi 18 more able to withstand dust and water exposure.
The certification is also said to point toward support for fast charging, although the exact charging wattage should be treated cautiously until Xiaomi officially announces the device.
Fast charging has become a big feature of premium smartphones, and Xiaomi has traditionally focused heavily on charging technology in its flagship lineup.
Could Xiaomi 18 Launch Globally Earlier?
NCC certification does not necessarily mean an imminent international launch. However, certification in an overseas market before the official announcement may indicate preparations for regional availability are in place.
The model number and specifications were also so reported that Xiaomi will likely be able to reduce the gap between Chinese and global launch of its forthcoming flagship.
Official Details Still Awaited
Xiaomi still has not officially announced all specifications, pricing or global availability details for the Xiaomi 18. More details of the launch will be disclosed soon.
Until then, the NCC listing gives an interesting early glimpse at what the global Xiaomi 18 could deliver, especially with its 256GB and 512GB storage capabilities, IP68 protection and fast-charging capabilities.
If the reports are true, the Xiaomi 18 could become a strong player in the premium smartphone segment for the international market when its launch is finally made available in the international market.
