A tragic road accident in Ahmedabad has claimed the lives of a mother and her teenage son after speeding Toyato Fortuner mounted a footpath in city’s Nikol area ate on Monday night .
At least 2 other people sustained critical injuries in the accident once again highlighting the safety and knowledge about safety and speed maintained .
According to the report they were speeding the SUV which lost control and hit footpath where members of a labourer family were present . Mother and her teenage son died in accident while two other victims sustained serious injuries and were rushed for medical treatment.
The victims were from a family which earned its livelihood by selling traditional chaniya-cholis. Their deaths have turned a family’s struggle to make a living into tragedy. It has also highlighted vulnerability of pedestrians (people who work or do small business along busy roads).
Investigators reportedly found beer cans in the Toyota Fortuner when they looked inside the vehicle. Blood tests later showed that the driver was drunk at the time of the accident.
The news has given a serious dimension to the investigation as police look into what happened which led to the fatal collision.
Police registered a case against the driver under relevant provisions of BNS and Motor Vehicles Act after the incident. The investigation is likely to establish the whole sequence of events leading up to deaths and injuries and also who was responsible for the deaths and injuries (the driver).
