The incident took place at Gokul Pride OYO Lodge under the jurisdiction of the SR Nagar police. The suspect, 38-year-old Ausalapalli Srinivas, left the lodge in the early hours of Tuesday after paying the room bill and is still absconding, police said.

The deceased woman was identified as Begari Shirisha, who was a native of Dharur mandal in Vikarabad district. Shirisha worked as a customer service centre worker in Hyderabad. She had been divorced in 2016. Police said Shirisha and Srinivas, who lived in the Tandur mandal, had known each other for some time and that Srinivas had promised her that he would marry her.

The couple entered the lodge on 24 September and stayed in Room 103, located on the first floor. Police said investigators found that the couple had allegedly used Aadhaar cards with names Ganesh and Durga to get the room. As part of the investigation, identity documents with different names are also being looked at.

According to the police report, the couple had been arguing over marriage last night, and Srinivas allegedly assaulted Shirisha. Police believe the assault resulted in her death. The mystery of the woman's death, including what was in the room, will be revealed through the ongoing investigation and available evidence, police said.

Srinivas left the lodge at around 3:30 am on Tuesday after settling the bill at the reception. Before leaving, he was overheard telling lodge workers that Shirisha would check out around 9 am. But when she didn’t leave the room or reply for several hours, lodge staff became suspicious.

The employees then called the police by calling Dial 100. Police arrived at the lodge and checked the room. There was no response from inside, so officers opened the room using an alternative key. They found Shirisha dead on the bed.

After the discovery, police began collecting information from the lodge and examining records related to the couple's stay. The registration details, identity documents that were obtained for the room, and other evidence could help determine what actually happened before the woman’s death, investigators are working to find out.

A case was registered by SR Nagar police based on a complaint filed by Shirisha's brother. Police teams have launched a search for Srinivas, who is currently reported to be absconding. The investigation is also into his past criminal history.

The case has attracted attention because the alleged incident took place inside a commercial lodge that the couple had settled into for a number of days. Police are expected to study available CCTV footage, lodge records, staff accounts and other evidence to establish the accused and the sequence of events that led to the woman’s death.

The alleged use of Aadhaar cards with names other than that of the couple is also being investigated. The documents are to be found and whether they were knowingly used to secure accommodation under different names.

At this stage, police have identified Srinivas as the suspect but he has not yet been arrested and the allegations against him remain under investigation. The exact cause and manner of death will also form part of the official investigation and forensic process.

The incident is a reminder of the importance of early intervention by lodge staff when guests become strange. The employees were forced to call police as Shirisha wasn’t responding and didn’t check out as indicated. They said they went to the room and found her dead.

As the search for Srinivas continues, investigators will question those who knew the deceased and the suspect, look at their communication records if legally available, and verify the circumstances of their stay at the Ameerpet lodge.

The SR Nagar police investigation is still ongoing and we expect more details to be available once the suspect is traced and investigators have completed their investigation into the evidence.
