The suspect was taken into custody by the US Secret Service on Thursday night Nov 5 after it found three firearms and dozens of rounds of ammunition in his car, DHS said.
The suspect was identified as 26-year-old Ronny Yordrix Guanipa Chrinos. DHS said he told Secret Service officers that voices in his head told him to go to Washington DC and kill President Trump.
The incident occurred on Constitution Avenue near the White House complex. Police also found that the car in which the suspect was sitting had reportedly been reported stolen.

The first interaction was reportedly treated as a welfare check. Chrinos communicated with officers using Google Translate during the conversation.
He allegedly told police he had weapons in the car and wanted to hand them over to authorities.
DHS later said that when officers confronted him he told them he heard voices telling him to go to Washington, DC and kill President Donald Trump.
The Secret Service officers then went to investigate the vehicle and found it had been reported stolen.
Three Firearms And Ammunition Recovered
A search of the vehicle uncovered three firearms and dozens of rounds of ammunition.
The criminal complaint and reports state that the weapons seized were: (1) “handguns”; (2) “long guns”; (3) “shotguns”; (4) “rifle”; (5) “other weapons”; (6) “ammunition”.
- An AR-15-style rifle
- A MAC-10 machine pistol
- A Glock 43X handgun
The finding led the authorities to take the suspect into custody and begin an investigation.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
The recovery of multiple firearms near the White House has raised security concerns especially given that there was an alleged threat against US President.
What Charges Does The Suspect Face?
The Department of Homeland Security says Chrinos has several firearms charges against him as well as allegations about a stolen vehicle.
The charges are carrying a rifle outside your home or business; unlawful transportation of firearms; possession of unregistered firearms and ammunition, possession of certain dangerous weapons and carrying a pistol without licence.
He also faces charges of unauthorised use of a motor vehicle, theft and receiving stolen property.
He was still in custody after his arrest, US media reported. Prosecutors were looking into the evidence and he was expected to appear in federal court Monday.
It wasn’t immediately clear whether the suspect had legal representation.
DHS Says Suspect Entered US In 2024
The DHS said Chrinos entered the United States through Texas in March 2024.
DHS said he was arrested by US Border Patrol after entering the country but later released.
Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin thanked the Secret Service officers for their response and said they prevented a threat near the White House.
Secret Service Director Sean Curran also said the officers used their training and experience to de-escalate a volatile situation.
The authorities haven’t said anything about the suspect’s alleged intentions publicly beyond what was said about him during the encounter.
White House Security And Previous Threats Against Trump
The arrest comes as security concerns over threats against President Donald Trump have increased.
Trump has been the target of assassination attempts and security incidents over many years.
A gunman opened fire at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania in July 2024. Trump was shot; one attendee died and two others were wounded.
Another security incident occurred in April 2026 at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner at Washington Hilton Hotel when a gunman allegedly broke through a security checkpoint and exchanged fire with police. The suspect was arrested and a Secret Service officer was wounded.
The latest arrest near the White House is another case of an alleged threat against the president.
Authorities are still investigating the circumstances of the arrest and weapons found in the vehicle.
