India Post has released the notification for Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Online Engagement Schedule-II, July 2026, where another big recruitment opportunity is available for people who wish to work in the postal field.
The drive covers BPM, Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) and Dak Sevak positions in various postal circles and divisions.
There are more than 25,000 vacancies in this regard but candidates need to check the official portal for the latest vacancy details in circle and division.
India Post GDS Recruitment 2026: Important Dates
According to the official notification, the window of OTR will be open from August 31 to September 19, 2026 until 5 PM.
Candidates will submit their online applications and pay the relevant fee from September 2 to September 21, 2026, and will receive a correction window from September 23 to September 24, 2026.

The recruitment is for GDS positions such as BPM, ABPM, and Dak Sevak. The detailed vacancy position is provided division-wise through the GDS online engagement system, so each person should check the vacancy positions in their preferred divisional placement before submitting their choices.
India Post GDS Salary 2026
Selected candidates will receive a 'Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA)' instead of a regular Central Government employee salary. The official notification lists the following basic TRCA slabs:
BPM: ₹12,000 to ₹29,380. ABPM/Dak Sevak: ₹10,000 to ₹24,470
The TRCA has an annual increase of 3%. GDS employees are entitled to Dearness Allowance and some social security under the prescribed rules.
Who Can Apply
Candidates must have passed Class 10 from a recognised board with passing marks in mathematics and English. They must also have studied the specified local language up to class 10.
They need to have knowledge of computers and cycling, along with adequate means of livelihood as described in the notification.The age limit is 18 to 40 years, and it is to be relaxed for certain eligible reserved categories according to the government.
Selection Process
One of the key features of the GDS recruitment is that candidates are shortlisted through a merit-based process based on their Class 10 marks rather than a written examination. Shortlisted candidates are then required to complete document verification and other prescribed formalities.
