Oracle Layoffs 2026: Employees Wake Up to Another 6 AM Job Cut Email

Oracle’s layoffs are on the rise with some workers learning early Monday that they had been fired. The latest workforce reduction took place on September 14, 2026, several months after the technology giant did a much larger round of job cuts.

For the employees affected, termination emails were sent at 6 a.m. local time last Monday, returning to the “6 a.m. layoff email” pattern as in Oracle's earlier restructuring. The company did not disclose how many employees were fired in this round.

Employees Report Notifications of Early-Morning Notifications

Oracle employees who were affected by the latest cuts were told, Business Insider and other publications reported, that their roles were being eliminated as part of larger organisational changes.

Some employees lost access to internal systems before they received the formal notification, the employees said. Corporate logins were disabled in the early morning, followed by disruptions to workplace communication systems before the emails were sent, the report said.

Such an abrupt sequence has attracted attention because of the way notifications were handled.

So far the exact number of layoffs is not entirely clear.

There are reports that a number of teams have been affected and Oracle has not yet officially stated the number of positions that have been eliminated in this round.

Some media reports have even claimed that some departments suffered a lot of reductions, but we should take all of this with caution. The company has also not disclosed in detail what departments have been hit the hardest.

This means that it is important to distinguish the fact of another layoff round being confirmed from the speculation about its size.

Fresh Cuts Follow Major 2026 Layoffs

The move follows large workforce reductions in 2026. Oracle’s workforce dropped by approximately 21,000 employees in the previous fiscal year, or approximately 13% of its workforce at the time.

And the company is spending massive amounts of cash on cloud infrastructure and artificial intelligence-related data centers. Oracle’s capital spending has soared as it plans for AI computing.

AI Investment and Cost Pressures

Oracle is restructuring in response to the need for disciplined AI infrastructure spending, as well as payroll and other operating costs.

The company’s cloud infrastructure business has been growing rapidly, but the data-centre capacity required for AI workloads demands a huge capital investment. Therefore, reports have linked those recent layoffs to Oracle’s overall effort to keep costs down while continuing its AI expansion.

The layoffs underscore the tension that some big technology companies are facing: demand for AI infrastructure is rising, and at the same time businesses are trying to reorganize their old workforces for automation and new technology.

What About Oracle India?

The recent reports concern the employees in the U.S. and there has been speculation that further restructuring could eventually affect Oracle's India operations, but any such future cuts should not be presented as confirmed unless Oracle or reliable reporting establishes them.

Oracle has a significant workforce in India, so developments in the US are closely watched by technology professionals in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and other major IT centres.
