According to officials, the attack was carried out by a group led by Munna, who is an accused in a murder case. Three suspects were taken into custody after the incident, and police have registered a case in connection with the attack.

Gang Attacked Private Bus Staff

The incident took place near a petrol pump in Elamkunnapuzha, in the Vypin area of Kochi. Police said a group of men attacked private bus employees, including a bus driver, before officers arrived at the scene.

The police team attended when it was learned about the assault. Officers did intervene to help the situation be calmed down and prevent violence.

However, the situation got worse when the group allegedly turned against the officers. Sub Inspector Jithin and Constable Ragesh suffered stab injuries during the attack.

Both were taken to a private hospital for treatment. The officers were working on their official duties and responding to a violent dispute, the report says.

Sub Inspector Had Recently Taken Charge

Sub Inspector Jithin had taken charge at the Njarakkal police station shortly before the incident. The injury to police personnel during the intervention has raised the stakes of police officers who deal with violent disputes.

The officers had arrived at the site to respond to a complaint from private bus employees. What started as an intervention in a reported assault escalated into violence against the responding police team.

Some details of the sequence of events that led up to this clash are, of course, under investigation.

Three Suspects Taken Into Custody

Police arrested three suspects in the attack. They include Munna, whose real name is Prajith, his brother Prajeesh, and a man named Rahil, a native of Varapuzha.

Munna was described in reports as an accused in a murder case. Police are currently investigating the three men in the attack and the circumstances of the attack on the officers.

Other police officers who arrived to arrest the suspects were also attacked, according to reports, police said. Investigators are investigating and gathering evidence as part of the case.

The police have said: “We take this very seriously and we will take somebody’s head on.” And the investigation will also establish the sequence of events and who is involved in each of these.

Investigation Underway

The stabbing has raised fears of violence when private bus employees and local groups clash. Police officers in such situations are supposed to handle volatile situations and protect members of the public from further attacks.

In this case, officers who intervened were themselves wounded during the encounter. The investigation will cover the reasons for the clash, the alleged assault on the bus staff, and the police personnel.

Details regarding the officers' recovery and the legal processes against the suspects may come out as the investigation goes on.

The case is still being investigated, and the allegations against the suspects will be dealt with in the legal process.
