The Bollywood trade circuit has been abuzz with rumors regarding the sudden rescheduling of Agastya Nanda’s highly anticipated second film, Ikkis. While many speculated that the film was postponed to avoid a massive box-office clash with the action-thriller Dhurandhar, megastar Amitabh Bachchan has dropped a cryptic hint suggesting a very different, more traditional reason: Astrology.
The legendary actor took to his official blog and social media to clarify that the decision was rooted in Jyotish Vidya (astrological science) rather than fear of cinematic competition.

The Postponement: Strategy vs. Superstition?
Ikkis, a war drama directed by Sriram Raghavan, was originally slated for a major holiday release. However, when the dates were pushed back, industry insiders assumed it was a strategic move to give breathing room to other big-budget releases like Dhurandhar.
Amitabh Bachchan, however, debunked these theories in his trademark eloquent style.
- The "Jyotish" Factor: Big B hinted that the family’s trusted astrologers suggested a more "auspicious" window for the young actor’s career progression.
- Agastya’s Career Path: Following his debut in The Archies, Ikkis is considered a crucial milestone for Agastya. The Bachchan family is known to be traditionally inclined, often consulting planetary alignments for major life and career events.
What is Ikkis?
The film is a biopic based on the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, the youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra.
- Director: Sriram Raghavan (of Andhadhun and Badlapur fame).
- Cast: Agastya Nanda in the lead, alongside veteran actor Dharmendra.
- The Stakes: Unlike his debut, Ikkis features Agastya in a gritty, high-stakes military role, making the timing of the release vital for his positioning as a serious performer.
Big B’s Protective Stance
In his post, Amitabh wrote about the importance of "cosmic timing" and how sometimes the alignment of stars in the sky is more important than the alignment of movies in a theater.
"Decisions are often seen through the lens of business... but there is a deeper science, an ancient wisdom of the stars that guides the path. The wait for Ikkis is not a retreat, but a timed advance," Bachchan noted.
While the new release date is yet to be officially announced, sources suggest it will now fall in a window that aligns with Agastya’s "favorable planetary period" in early 2026.
