Himansh Kohli is prepping for the release of Aryabhatt Ka Zero which will be released on 7th August 2026. The actor also spoke out about one of the hardest phases of his life when his father would not financially support his move to Mumbai to pursue acting.
Himansh spoke with Zoom/Telly Talk India in the exclusive interview about his early struggles and how his father’s tough love was instrumental for him in his life. Although his father’s words hurt him, he admitted they helped him become motivated, and more responsible.
If he was called a “zero” by his father, Himansh said he’d had this quite often in his early days. His father would always taunt him and even say, “Dekho maine kaisa zero paida kiya hai” and that’s one thing he can say a lot of times but now, when he thinks about it, he knows that those comments were in the name of concern, he told me. His father wanted him to get serious about his future and take responsibility for his life.
The Yaariyaan actor also said that when he told his family about his decision to move from Delhi to Mumbai to work on acting as a career, his father didn't stop him. But there was one condition he had for that journey, he was not going to fund it. Himansh said his father thought he might return home after a day and that he would get bored of the struggle of pursuing an acting career.
Recalling that conversation, Himansh said his father told him to manage everything on his own and not depend on family support. His father wanted him to understand the reality of life and not depend on financial help he said. But just before he left Delhi, his father did give him some money to rent a place and arrange basic food after reaching Mumbai.
Himansh said living independently in Mumbai taught him life lessons. So the daily grind of money management and the competitive entertainment sector without constant support made him disciplined and driven. Those early struggles were, in the end, the beginning of his resolve and every success was more significant.
As far as his family is concerned Himansh said his father’s mindset has completely changed. The son’s growth and consistency in the industry has made him proud. And his father is now truly happy with the progress he has made with the way he has grown up and become a good actor, he explained.
Himansh also added a light-hearted anecdote about his childhood, saying he lived in Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar and comes from a typical Delhi household where teasing and taunts are a part of everyday family life. He said in his home there is always one person pulling on the other’s leg, and it is both strict and humorous.
The actor’s story is a perfect fit to his next film Aryabhatt Ka Zero. Directed by Kamal Chandra, it is the movie that says if a zero person can be a hero, and believe in himself, everyone can become a hero, and that is that if one doesn’t give up. Himansh portrays Baggu as Baggu who is an example of grit, belief in him and self-belief.
