Kichcha Sudeep’s highly anticipated actioner, Mark, has officially made its mark at the box office, delivering one of the strongest opening day performances for a Kannada film in 2025. Released on December 25, the film took full advantage of the Christmas holiday, netting an estimated ₹6.20 crore in India on its first day across all languages.
The film saw an extraordinary reception in its home territory, with the Kannada version alone contributing roughly ₹6.08 crore to the net total. Occupancy rates remained exceptionally high throughout the day, averaging over 80% in many regions. In major hubs like Bengaluru, the film maintained steady footfalls despite the high number of screenings, while Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities like Tumakuru and Shivamogga reported staggering morning show occupancies of 96% and 89%, respectively.
Despite a major box office clash with the multi-starrer 45 (featuring Shiva Rajkumar and Upendra), Mark emerged as the frontrunner in the opening day battle. While 45 also performed well with a net collection of approximately ₹4.30 crore, Sudeep’s portrayal of the gritty Superintendent of Police, Ajay Markandayya, seems to have resonated more intensely with the mass audience. Trade analysts suggest that the high-octane stunt sequences and Sudeep’s screen presence are driving the momentum, particularly in single-screen theaters.
As the film moves into its first weekend, the outlook remains positive. With strong word-of-mouth and no major competition outside the local clash, Mark is expected to maintain its grip on the box office. Producers at Kichcha Creatiions and Sathya Jyothi Films are optimistic that the film will cross the ₹20 crore mark globally within its first three days, fueled by a combination of festive holiday crowds and a dedicated fan base.
