Ram Charan’s much-anticipated sports drama Peddi is out in theatres and early numbers show a monster opening at the worldwide box office. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, it has generated a lot of buzz ahead of time with strong advance bookings in domestic and abroad.
Advance Booking Numbers
According to Sacnilk, Peddi had around ₹8.55 crore gross in advance bookings in India (excluding block seats) and sold over 2.49 lakh tickets in different languages. In addition to block seats, the domestic advance booking gross was ₹13.54 crore. The Telugu version had 2,419 shows, while Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam versions contributed to the total.
Worldwide, pre-sales for day one of the film (including premiere screenings) are over ₹50 crore, and trade sources say the film could reach ₹100 crore gross on its opening day. North American sales have been particularly strong with premiere advance sales nearing $1 million, just $130K shy of the prestigious million-dollar club for Telugu cinema.
Market-Wise Breakdown
The Telugu states are still the main drivers of Peddi’s box office momentum. Andhra Pradesh contributed about ₹4.43 crore in advance bookings, while Telangana added ₹1.23 crore, but bookings there opened only at the last minute due to pending government approvals. At least 28 lakh tickets have been sold for the Telugu version alone.
The Hindi market is lagging behind, with only about 2,900 tickets sold in advance. Industry observers say Peddi’s success in northern India will depend on positive word-of-mouth after it’s released.
Comparison with Previous Releases
Peddi is behind Ram Charan’s previous film Game Changer (2025), which had a gross advance booking of ₹26.8 crore in India. Game Changer also had a day one gross of ₹61.09 crore in India and ₹80.09 crore worldwide. Trade analysts will be watching whether Peddi can exceed that.
The Road Ahead
With a breakeven target of ₹450-500 crore worldwide against a pre-release theatrical business valuation of around ₹220 crore, Peddi has high box office expectations. The film’s opening day collection and weekend performance will be the key to its commercial success. As the first big Telugu movie of June, all eyes remain on Peddi to deliver a blockbuster opening and justify its massive scale and star power.
