Now, the Bollywood juggernaut, Ranveer Singh, is at the height of his career. He has, not just gotten his box office situation under control with Dhurandhar, his latest spy thriller but he has changed the history books for the world. At just the beginning of its two month in cinema, the film has grossed over ₹1,300 crore worldwide and is deemed one of the best performing Indian movies in the history books.
Beside waiting to see the sequel Dhurandhar
The Revenge (another massive festive release later in 2026, March 19) is Ranveer: he’s shocked the industry by going dark and supernatural on his next adventure. The actor prepares to headline his first horror-based movie Pralay. The ‘Pralay’ Details From Espionage to Undead. Pralay has been conceived as a high-concept post-apocalyptic zombie thriller.
As part of a major career transition, Ranveer Singh isn’t merely starring in the film, but also playing the role of producer. This is a new film directed by Jai Mehta (son of the acclaimed filmmaker Hansal Mehta), having been highly noted by his brother-in-law. The movie is purported to use AI technology to turn the skyline of Mumbai into a dying moribund wasteland. Unlike the usual “jump-scare” horror, Pralay comes across as a survival drama about a married couple struggling for their lives in the midst of a viral outbreak.
Pan-India Cooperation: Debut of Kalyani Priyadarshan
This casting of the female lead is already a huge buzz. Ranveer will work with the South Indian Star Kalyani Priyadarshan, fresh off the massive moonlight on the Malayalam dark-fantasy hit Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra. Notably, Lokah which passed its ₹300 crore threshold also featured Kalyani in a role inspired by folklore and spirits. She will give her official Bollywood debut in Pralay.
According to rumor, Ranveer Singh himself contacted Kalyani in person, urging her to come aboard as it is the first "novel world-building" the film wants to make.
Why the Shift to Horror?
The decision arrives at a moment where the “Supernatural Universe” is reigning supreme at the Indian box office. Horror has become a huge bonanza for producers, with the success of films like Stree 2 or Munjya as well as the very much in-oncoming vampire-comedy Thama. Ranveer wants to change his perspective by getting a zombie-survival angle into the frame and looking to move away from the high-octane thrill of Dhurandhar.
What’s Next for the Star?
Ranveer will wrap up his promotional work for Dhurandhar 2 before heading into the realm of the undead. Pralay will start shooting in April 2026 in Mumbai. Filmed in locations outside to reflect the end-of-the-world aesthetic. In a series of scenes throughout the show the world watches closely, Ranveer Singh emerges determined to show himself that he can dominate both the realistic world of undercover agents and his terrifyingly unreal otherworld.
