Deepika Padukone has just appeared on social media to get in the throws of things. Deepika was never present to promote her husband Ranveer Singh’s new film Dhurandhar 2 in public, and many local actors are promoting the movie but Deepika’s silence triggered a number of discussions through the pages. At the same time photos of the couple together in Mumbai and at other public events have added more fuel to the discussion.
Diaries in other languages and Deepika’s many social media posts about Dhurandhar 2 never reached out to the public, as she wouldn’t even be able to share comments. While most of the filmmakers’ supporters asked for some answers about such reasons as Deepika did, critics felt her silence represented indifference and it didn’t show up on social media, but they said she should have shared the love. They argued it’s less, because as Ranveer’s wife the only good public support she will probably show support through her public appearances for the actress. But defenders countered that support needs to happen to be visible on social media (it doesn’t need to take place at all if you’re not public) and that no relationship’s support is private.
Despite online criticism, Deepika and Ranveer have been seen at several places. Recently, they were eating in Mumbai as part of their meal for dinner. This one day after they were also seen by the media at Tirupati temple and attending weddings. All of them were with Deepika, no public posting of advertisements or not, so maybe Deepika and Ranveer are still showing their own stories in public even though it is one of the only ways it can be done.
The controversy highlighted an inherent issue with celebrity relationships, with public expectations for celebrities who provide support to them professionally. Yet others believe people’s relationships are not as important as social media postings on them. Deepika’s refusal to share Dhurandhar 2 details has therefore also opened up a debate about loyalty being public or the loyalty one is always supposed to show (in the dark or in the morning) and then not so much so that the person should feel a sense of closeness to the person.
Not only is Deepika Padukone’s silence in promotions for Dhurandhar 2 getting the finger out of their hands but that’s the opposite of personal life to public persona which still needs to be defended. There are some people who think her lack of posts is too low but others are in agreement with her taking the step of going out of touch of it and also that she should have a private life. So together for sure is it still the couple, despite their noisy public appearance. This episode is representative of how our celebrity decisions, online or not, are always at least constantly under public scrutiny.
