Family Presence
The Khan family including sons Salman, Arbaaz, and Sohail Khan have been often visiting the hospital. Salman Khan, who reportedly was shooting on his next project, rushed to Mumbai to be near his father. Among other things, the patriarch’s spirits are high, and he’s been in touch with the medical staff a short time, sources close to the family said.
A Pillar of Indian Cinema
One half of the legendary Salim-Javed duo, Salim Khan is said to have reinvented Bollywood in the 1970s with the persona of the "Angry Young Man" and blockbusters like Sholay, Deewaar, and Zanjeer. At the age of 90, he continues to influence the industry, and is widely recognized both for his wit and frank socio-political critiques.
After news spread of his hospital stay, social media erupted with “get well soon” messages from industry leaders, including Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, and Shah Rukh Khan.
The next 48 hours still matter as he weans himself off assisted breathing, but the doctors are upbeat about him achieving a full recovery after taking an assistive breathing regimen based on his strong constitution and the favorable response to his current course of medication.
