Varun Dhawan’s "Border 2" Stunt Backfires: Mumbai Metro Slams Actor for Dangerous Pull-Up Video

His recent flick Border 2 is burning out at the top of the box office, yet actor Varun Dhawan seems to have been in a whole different kind of heat. MMMOCL, the Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited, has officially "slammed" the actor for a viral video of him performing pull-ups within a moving metro coach. The episode took place in a crowded city during the weekend when Dhawan decided to take the metro to the theater as a way to escape Mumbai’s gridlock ahead of a surprise show for people who love him.

The “Silly Stunt” That Went Viral

In the clip, which quickly went viral across social media platforms, Varun hangs from the overhead metal grab handles a device for passenger stability and performs multiple pull-ups while other commuters look on. The authorities were swift to respond, reposting the clip with a stern warning. Their message was clear: “Hang out, but don’t hang in there.”

Official Warning from MMMOCL

And these actions, the metro authorities emphasized, are not just unsafe, they are also punishable by law. In a post addressed directly to the actor, the MMMOCL said:

“This video should have come with a disclaimer like the ones in your action movies, @Varun_dvn. Do Not Try This On Maha Mumbai Metro. We get it, it is cool to hang out with friends inside our metros, but those grab handles are not for hanging.”

The corporation also said that under The Metro Railways (Operations and Maintenance) Act, 2002, those actions are a type of "causing nuisance" and damage to public property. These offenses may carry heavy fines or be punishable by imprisonment - depending on the severity.

Public Response: Celebrity Responsibility

It has led to vigorous online debate over the duties of public figures.

The Critique: Many netizens also said the metro authorities’ neutrality celebrities should set better standards for the young to do the same was appreciated by the general public.

The Defense: There were fans who viewed it as some wry, harmless light-hearted moment for excitement during the epic success of Border 2.

Although there’s been public outcry in social media, Varun Dhawan has failed to produce an official response for the council’s advisory on the metro. Instead, the actor still takes immense joy in his film which already crossed the ₹177 crore mark in just four days.
