The long-awaited union of one of the most loved screen duos of India, Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna, was made on today in a beautiful scene. It was during a special ceremony at the Mementos by ITC Hotels (Ekaaya) in Udaipur that the duo christened their wedding as “The Wedding of VIROSH,” an address that has been a fan-created name for the couple for close to eight years.
The couple recently took to their own social media network to post not only their first official pictures of themselves as husband and wife but an absolute stampede across the internet.
Nestled among a stunning backdrop of Aravalli hills, the pair made sure their nuptials were a deeply intimate, culturally significant ceremony. Vijay’s heritage the celebration started early in the morning with a traditional Telugu Hindu ceremony. Witnesses said, the bride and groom were observed to be emotional during the sacred rituals.
Rashmika's roots were celebrated in the late evening, as she performed a second Kodava (Coorgi) ceremony. Rashmika’s stunning entrance, as she walked down a hillside path to the altar decked with flowers and silhouetted against the backdrop of the setting Udaipur sun, was a highlight of this ritual.
The first photos have the couple appear to be looking like regal members of some sort in ornate clothes. Rashmika chose a beautiful orange and gold silk saree for morning rituals and a traditional gold temple piece of classic gold jewelry. Rashmika has decided to dress in traditional robes for a smooth, elegant morning ritual.
In classical white dhoti Vijay complimented his bride, while a 'dushala' with intricate zardosi work matched Rashmika’s saree. The second look for the Kodava ceremony was Rashmika's saree wearing traditional Kodava style (with pleats at the back), while Vijay looked dapper in a traditional Mundu.
The couple's glowing looks have captivated their followers, fans flooding their comments sections comparing them to "sculptures carved in ancient times."
Together with the photos, both stars wrote poignant tributes to one another. Vijay had also written of how he suddenly thought he needed his best friend, near him during every meal, work out, and silence then made her his wife.
Rashmika expressed the same emotion, calling Vijay “My Husband” where she spoke of him, giving Vijay the name of the man who brought her real peace of mind and taught her to dream big. They were hoping to have "a complete party during this whole family celebration together."
It was a playful, week-long celebration. The festive spirit got under way on February 24 with a friendly game of cricket dubbed the "VIROSH Premier League" (VPL), pool volleyball and a Japanese dinner.
A poignant moment from the Sangeet involved Vijay’s mother, Madhavi, presenting Rashmika heirloom golden bangles to her, as a token of their acceptance into the Deverakonda family. The couple even danced to their hit song Inkem Inkem Inkem Kaavaale from their first film, Geetha Govindam.
