In Rajasthan, a celestial party is now taking place between the "National Crush" Rashmika Mandanna and Tollywood idol Vijay Deverakonda. The couple, popularly known as “VIROSH” by their millions of fans, is wedding at the luxury ITC Mementos Ekaaya in Udaipur. Celebrity weddings are usually large affairs, but this one is anointing with an abiding respect for tradition.
The intriguing detail about the wedding of the couple (February 26, 2026) is that they are going to have not one, but two separate wedding ceremonies on the same day.
One day, Two traditions: the roots of Telugu and Kodava
Rashmika and Vijay chose to pay respect to both of their heritages and in a beautiful gesture of cultural harmony. Both are adherents of Hinduism, yet their regional traditions, represented in the name of Telugu (Vijay’s) and Kodava (based on the Coorgi heritage of Rashmika), have unique and dynamic rituals.
- Morning (Telugu Ceremony): On February 26, the celebrations will commence with a traditional Telugu Hindu ceremony. This will involve ceremonies that are important on the groom’s ancestral background including the Jeelakarra Bellam and the linking of the Mangalsutra, a Telangana tradition.
- The Evening (Kodava Ceremony): Later that day, the couple will be doing a traditional Kodava wedding. Unique among Indian weddings, this ceremony involves the bride in a Coorgi-style saree and rituals of ancestral blessings over traditional priests. Opting for that way, the couple ensures that the two families are equally represented to all concerned, with equal prominence, and the rich traditions of their communities are respected.
A Week of "VIROSH" Festivities
The wedding is a week-long festival of high-energy entertaining and graceful serenity. Pre-wedding Fun: The festivities started with quirky things like a pool party and ‘family cricket match’, with both Mandanna and Deverakonda clans playing friendly side-by-side.
- Mehndi & Sangeet: The resort turned into a photo gallery on February 25 showing the couple's love story. Decor was done with intimate pictures and holiday snaps, and another special function at the Sangeet took place when Vijay’s mother, Madhavi, showed Rashmika a family heirloom.
- The Guest List: With strict privacy, only about 100 guests had been invited. Among the guests are actress Ashika Ranganath, director Tharun Bhascker; actor Eesha Rebba and director Rahul Ravindran.
What’s Next: The Grand Reception
Though the Udaipur ceremony is a private “no-media” affair, the couple is planning a huge gathering for their industry partners and political figures. The reception in Hyderabad is likely to be star-studded, and invitations to pan-India stars like Allu Arjun, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt have reportedly been sent along with various political leaders.
As the couple finally starts to move from "rumors" to "real" in the “Wedding of VIROSH,” it’s become a template for a new cohort of Indian couples struggling to juggle superstardom and cultural authenticity.
