Congress Focuses on 2027 Election Preparations
Uttarakhand will hold its next Assembly elections in 2027. Voters will elect representatives to all 70 constituencies then.
The Congress is expected to work on its organisation, coordination among state leaders and presence at grassroot level.
The agenda and specific decisions taken in the November 2 meeting were not immediately made public but organisational preparedness and political roadmap for elections are important issues before state unit.
The party will also need to address local issues; build its booth level network; develop a clear campaign strategy to challenge the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

BJP Government Faces Congress Challenge
The BJP (Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami) is in power in Uttarakhand and will try to retain its position in 2027 Assembly elections.
Meanwhile the Congress is trying to consolidate its position in the hill state. In the 2022 Assembly elections, BJP won 47 seats and Congress bagged 19 seats (in the 70-member Assembly).
The Congress leadership will focus on unemployment, rising prices, development, migration from hill districts and other issues which affect residents.
What the Meeting Means for Uttarakhand Politics
The meeting between Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and Uttarakhand Congress leaders is at a critical stage in state’s political preparations.
Direct talks with national leadership could help the state unit coordinate better and set priorities for months ahead.
With the Assembly elections in 2027 around the corner, Congress will have to present a united leadership and strengthen its campaign in Garhwal and Kumaon regions.
Further details of the party’s election strategy and organisational decisions will emerge as preparations continue.
