The change in weather is associated with more rainfall activity over southern parts of the country. South Interior Karnataka may get heavy rainfall on November 2 and 3 while thunderstorms and lightning are likely in several other places.

The IMD’s Bengaluru forecast for November 2 says generally cloudy skies with one or two spells of rain/thundershowers. Maximum temperature is likely to be around 30°C and minimum temperature may be around 20°C.

Bengaluru Weather Forecast for November 2

Bengaluru residents can expect cloudy weather with intermittent showers and thunderstorms on Monday, November 2.

One or two spells of rain or thundershowers are likely. Thunderstorms with lightning is also likely. Sudden evening showers may disturb traffic movement during peak commuting hours.

The city’s maximum temperature will be around 30°C and minimum near 20°C.

Bengaluru is not in the heavy rain forecast for today’s day (city level bulletin) of IMD. But South Interior Karnataka region has a heavy rain warning along with thunderstorm and lightning warning.

Bengaluru Weather Forecast Until November 7

Rainfall activity is expected to continue intermittently over Bengaluru during the week.

The IMD city forecast is as follows:

  • November 2: Cloudy with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers. Thunderstorms with lightning possible.
  • 3 Nov: Partly cloudy skies with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers. Thunderstorms and lightning possible.
  • November 4: Partly cloudy skies with some rain or thundershowers and a chance of lightning.
  • November 5: Mostly cloudy with light rain. No weather warning.
  • 6 Nov: Mostly cloudy with light rain. No weather warning.
  • 7 Nov: Generally cloudy with light rain. No weather warning.

Even after the main thunderstorm warnings for the first half of the week Bengaluru could see unsettled weather.

Heavy Rain Warning for South Interior Karnataka

The IMD has issued a heavy-rain warning for South Interior Karnataka on November 2 and 3.

Several districts in this region may receive rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. These districts are Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Ramanagara, Kolar, Mysuru, Hassan, Mandya, Kodagu, Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga, Tumakuru, Chikkaballapura, Ballari etc in the region.

Intensity and distribution of rainfall may vary across districts. People living in areas where heavier showers are expected should be alert for local weather updates (especially during thunderstorms).

Coastal and North Interior Karnataka Also on Alert

Coastal Karnataka and North Interior Karnataka are also likely to be affected by changing weather conditions.

IMD has predicted thunderstorms and lightning in Coastal Karnataka on November 2 followed by heavy-rain warning on November 3. Thunderstorm activity may continue in isolated areas on November 4 and 5 also.

The coastal districts are Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada.

North Interior Karnataka will have heavy rainfall on November 3 and 4 with thunderstorms and lightning. Thunderstorms may continue on November 5 also.

These warnings mean rainfall is not just Bengaluru or southern districts. Several parts of Karnataka could get unsettled weather this week.

Thunderstorms and Strong Winds May Affect Daily Activities

Along with rainfall thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds may cause temporary disruptions in different parts of Karnataka.

Sudden showers can result in water accumulating on roads, traffic moving slowly and visibility reduced. Commuters travelling in Bengaluru in evening time may get delayed if the rain happens at peak traffic time.

Residents should not stand under trees or near electric poles during thunderstorms. If people are outdoors they should seek safe shelter when lightning is reported.

Motorists should drive slowly on wet roads and avoid crossing waterlogged stretches. Farmers and outdoor workers should follow local weather advisories during periods of lightning and strong winds too.

What Should Bengaluru Residents Expect This Week?

The latest forecast says that Bengaluru will have cloudy skies, intermittent rain and thunderstorms in the first half of the week. Light rain may continue till November 7 but the city level forecast does not say heavy-rain warning every day.

Other districts in South Interior, Coastal and North Interior Karnataka have separate rainfall and thunderstorm warnings.

People should check IMD bulletins as weather conditions and district level alerts may change. People travelling or doing outdoor activities or daily commutes should take precautions during rain/lightning spells.

Rainfall activity is expected in several parts of Karnataka so cooler days and temporary travel and traffic disruptions are expected during the next few days.
