Authorities in Dubai have officially announced the Eid Al Fitr holiday schedule for public sector employees, giving government workers a multi-day break to celebrate the end of the holy month of Eid al‑Fitr.
According to the announcement by the UAE Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, the holiday for the public sector will begin on Shawwal 1 of the Islamic calendar and will continue for several days depending on the official moon sighting. Government offices across Dubai and the wider United Arab Emirates will remain closed during the festive period.
Eid Al Fitr marks the conclusion of Ramadan, a month of fasting, prayer, and charity observed by Muslims worldwide. The festival is traditionally celebrated with special morning prayers at mosques, family gatherings, festive meals, and acts of charity.
Dubai typically sees vibrant celebrations during the Eid holidays, with shopping malls hosting promotional events, cultural shows, and fireworks displays across several parts of the city. Major tourist attractions, beaches, and entertainment venues also experience a surge in visitors during the long weekend.
Authorities have also encouraged residents to follow community guidelines while celebrating and to plan travel early, as highways, airports, and popular leisure destinations often experience increased traffic during the holiday period.
Private sector holiday announcements are usually issued separately by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, though they often follow a similar schedule to the public sector.
With the holiday approaching, residents across Dubai are preparing for one of the most important celebrations in the Islamic calendar, as families and communities come together to mark the festive occasion.
