And a video a homeowner has recently posted on social media has gone viral documenting what she says were risky and unsafe aspects of her house cleaner's behavior after she was home. The case is generating plenty of online chatter, but it has people around the globe mulling home safety, trust and home surveillance as a tool of surveillance.
The video has footage of the woman who visited the house and came unannounced and noted strange behavior her domestic helper exhibited. Fearing for her safety, she seized this footage on a mobile phone and published it online. It went viral across platforms, being viewed thousands of times and commented on within days.
The videos themselves, although without the specifics, they demonstrate what you see as behaviors that the homeowner is trying to describe in their own words were inappropriate or unsafe for residential situations. But viewers on social media have been divided over what to do. “The incident is viral,” one said, adding it is the right of someone to “hold people accountable for the people inside their private space” and some supported the homeowner in recording the incident. A similar response did apply to a few residents, but the homeowners did not think of the video as more than an anecdote, but instead as a narrative.
